Brink VS Portal 2

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:10 pm

Brink and Portal 2 are both (hopefully) going to be fun in their own way.

They are two completely different games, like everyone has been saying. You cannot really compare the two.

It is like chocolate-chip cake vs. ice-cream cake.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.......two caaaaaaaaakesssss. Yummy! (Brink cake better not be a lie! )

That's like comparing a regular bunny to a mutant bunny. The mutant bunny is just a different kind of bunny.

Think you hit the nail on the head Hungry Donner. Portal 2 will probably be more concentrated enjoyment, but not extremely replayable (once you know the solutions to the puzzles, kinda takes the fun outta it) while Brink's experience will be spread out over months and (hopefully) years.

Yep. I didn't play Portal until this past December, I'd been avoiding Steam before this. However after 20 absolutely awesome hours of playtime I'd completed the game and all of the bonus levels - and I've hardly played it since.

Funny enough I did open it up last night because my five-year-old wanted to give it a try, he actually did quite well.

Better?

For me Portal 2 will probably have more concentrated enjoyment but I'll probably log more hours in Brink so in the end I'm not sure if I can choose one over the other, especially given how different the games are.

I concur. Man, mods always have the most logical thinking.

Maybe we can use them to go bowling with the turrets as the pins. :spotted owl:

I hope I don't lose to that damn companion cube

He completed test chamber #9 (the 'impossible' room) before it was time for bed so he's had some experience with energy balls, but admittedly at a distance.

Getting back on topic, in terms of personal enjoyment I can't pick a clear winner between Portal 2 and BRINK but Portal 2 does have the advantage that I can play it while my son is around - my gaming computer is in the living room which limits what I can play when he's awake. Brink, as with most other games, is relegated to those odd hours I can get to it. I'll certainly find time, but it is nice to just sit back and relax in the late afternoon with a game :)
