How hardcoe is hardcoe mode exactly?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:19 am

So... you want a game where a single gunshot wound causes you to bleed out and die unless you get immediate medical attention, but even then it's not a sure thing that you'll survive or not?

Sounds fun.

Is there any pic anywhere that displays what the dehydration and starvation meters look like? Somewhere it said they look like the rad meter... but it would be nice to see.

Personally, I don't see why the forums need to be kid friendly when the games can't legally be bought by kids.... seems you wish there wasn't even a Ratin's system in the first place, Beth? Well, rules are rules. (Jack Thompson is shedding a single tear right now)

Well, they say it took about a minute for one tester to die on hardcoe mode. Likely that they went into a high level area though. hardcoe is basically going to make you have to keep maintenance on your character and be decisive in what weapon's and ammo you want to bring. Enemies are mostly the same.... or so it seems.....

This brings up a good point. One probably already made, but I musta missed it: If the PC has to deal with the effects of hardcoe, ie: stimpaks head over time, do any of the NPCs have the same restrictions placed on them under hardcoe, or does it only effect the PC?

ITS SO hardcoe IT WILL MAKE YOUR CHEST HAIR GROW CHEST HAIR

ITS SO hardcoe IT WILL TURN YOUR BLOOD INTO PURE ALCOHOL AND THEN SET IT ON FIRE

ITS SO hardcoe THAT I HAVE TO TYPE THIS IN ALL CAPS

Edit:
Stim packs heal over time instead of instantly, you need doctor bags to set crippled parts, ammo has weight, etc.

...

Off Topic: I wonder if playing in hardcoe mode will offer an XP bonus like what you see by playing a higher difficulty level in Fallout 3.

I thinks it only pertains to the player character.

hardcoe mode makes New Vegas a better Survival RPG, not a better shooter. This is a good thing.

This.

Hopefully not as I (at least) would see it as countering the idea of the mode, and hopefully the difficultybased experience distribution is reversed from Fallout 3 too.

Do stimpaks also have weight in hardcoe Mode? What about Rad-X/Radaway?

It's been said that everything has weight. So I take that as stimpaks too.

Well, I imagine hardcoe mode's ammo weight function is going to be like it was in fallout 1/2 (ammo also had weight there)
But stimpacks barely weighed anything in those games, probably the same in New vegas.

Well, I'm going to try out the hardcoe mode, but if the only real effect is having me constantly running back to town, then I will disable it.

What about caps (or what ever the currency used in New Vegas). That would be kinda cool if you had to hide them away somewhere, out of sight.

And when you took all your caps and went to get something expensive, some bandits would try to rob you. :P
