Relationships

But no one forces you to do it. You always have the option of just blowing a potential love interests brains out if you don't wanna deal with them at all.
I think we should have more options not less. Give the player more to do ya know. And if it's done right it would be great yeah. Done wrong and maybe we ignore it.

The problem with it is that we expect quality from them.
If they were to add relationships and marriage and stuff then they can't leave it half-assed.
So they will have to take away development time from other more important factors just to bring this aspect into the game.
It's better that they focus on what fallout has been and upgrade on that instead of creating something completely new that's either half-assed or take away development time on more important issues.

But y'know, if they can do it with minimal effort and still create something of quality then I'd say go for it.

I wouldn't really want that for a Fallout game. It just doesn't seem to sit right. It works with some games, and others, not so much. Fallout is an other.

I wouldnt mind it if it was simplistic as say doing a quest for a companion and through the quest you have the option of becoming involved with each other and by the end are a couple or whatever. You don't have to get her flowers or have kids, you just go around having adventures like a couple of bros like any other followers... only as a couple.

It's very simple but kind of nice.

I've yet to see a game where a romance story is well implemented, except for Baldur's Gate 2.
Fallout 2's wedding was pretty much only for the laugh. You're simply "forced" to marry. Even funnier when your male character is forced to marry the father's son.

Dialogue in videogames will never equal the lenght needed to build up a romance story like in movies, thus, everytime a game comes up with a romance story, it's always rushed and doesn't make much sense.

Mass Effect 1: You're good lieutenant. I like your style, you do a good job for being a soldier. Let's kiss. How about six? Ready for round 2? Bang, end of story. So much for "romance". :P

i think that relations would give depth and emotion into the game. in fallout 3 i noticed that even how relations werent actually in the game but yet i felt something for the person not in way of love but in a way that brings a bit of saddness when they would die or make me think of my choices. so if it were in the game it could make a whole different way to play the game, the choice would seem less like choice but more like how could this affect my game friends, family, etc. it would make you think more like the pc and less like the player... (i would love this in the fallout game but in a way that really makes me feel something out of it not just "hey you got (mail! XD) a new girlfriend tht is fake and emotionless. (i not saying that i want to make love to a game but i want my charater to be more like being/controling the person not the image.

i understand that it may take time to perfect but in the end i believe it could take this game to the next level of simulation :hubbahubba:  :fallout:

making love to fisto = the wrong kind of relationship XD

Baldur's Gate 2?

Crap you're right. How could I forget about that one. Sorry about that. :)
Though often the issue with romances is that the player does not have enough interaction. It's always the romantic interest who will speak always, it is always she\he who will initiate the conversation.

But, yes Cpl. I must admit I somewhat "fell in love" with Aerie/Jaheira/Dark Elf I do not remember the name in BG 2. The music helped a lot indeed.
Sorry again. The game slipped off my mind.

The husbands were really needy, too. :banghead:

On topic, I don't really have much to say except I would only want it in if put in properly. As been stated several hundred times already :goodjob:

One of the reasons I play video games is to escape from life, including whatever relationship I am in. For those brief few hours I don't have to be nice, watch what I say, pretend to be interested, or care about what her mother thinks.

I don't do any of that anyway lol :foodndrink:

Only if they are "die on the floor laughing" awkward. Because I would, you know.... die on the floor laughing if they were.

ugh.... dating/relationships in videogames....

I really just think it svcks.

relationships are the worst thing to happen to gaming since battletoads on the nes.

But I liked battletoads....

I wouldnt mind having a follower like that or someone staying at home. As long as I don't have to bring food to them each day -they should know how to take care of themselves.

More Lady Killer moments, or some momentous flirting with a companion would be fine with me. I don't need any more than that. Some fun dialogue, a little bit of charm and the occaisonal Burke style letter or something is the maximum it should go to.
