Hello. It has been revealed that J.K Rowling will be announcing something new to the Harry Potter universe, called Pottermore. The announcement will be on June 23rd. News:

Harry Potter fans have the promise of more wizarding adventures after JK Rowling launched a mysterious website called 'Pottermore'.

The project was unveiled when Rowling set fans a series of clues, asking them to enter 10 sets of coordinates into a site called secretstreetview.com. A letter could be found at each location, spelling out the Pottermore name.

The website bears Rowling's signature and the message: "Coming soon..."

Potter fansite The Leaky Cauldron has been granted a sneak preview of the content and described it as "one of the most amazing, engaging and breathtaking additions to this fandom imaginable".

"Even though this is not a new book... it is something equally exciting".

There are many rumors circulating the new announcement.
1. A new MMORPG or RPG.
2. Books can be purchased from the site.
3. A new fansite, forum, etc.
4. Harry Potter Encyclopedia.
5. A meeting place for fans.
6. Readings by Stephen Fry.
7. Flash Games.
8. Competitions.

Speculations:
1. Some believe that the name stands for Potter Massively Online Role-Playing Experience, which could make sense but is quite a stretch.

No, sir. The theme park was opened on June 10, 2010. This should or may involve the list of rumors I have posted above.

Huge fan of the Harry Potter series, and the first time I've heard of this. I thought the books were great, and ended well, but I think alot of people knew JKR would do something else in the HP universe.

This seems most likely to me. I doubt the people who had the preview would describe it like that if it was anything else on that list.

Indeed, the word engaging also seems to point to that conclusion. What's more engaging to the masses than a good MMO?

I really can't say, but possibly an all-encompassing site for Harry Potter, since it's become quite a franchise.

Okay, okay. Now that could be cool (as long as the graphics aren't too bad!) If a MMO is revealed do you think that it will be playable on the 23rd or not for months or even a year?

I doubt they'd make something like that at the moment. Maybe after they've started expanding the fandom. At the moment, the books are finished and the movies are about to be. The site wouldn't be used much longer, unless something new came to the fandom - like an MMO for example.

Yeah. They need something... new. Shall I say that? Lol. An MMO would be good. Bit what would we expect out of it? Guilds - or wizard duel clubs or organizations? Classes and clothes? Leveling up all spells you find? Finding interesting quests? Helping house elves? Raising dragons, exploring Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, seeing Hagrid and Dumbledore, depending on the time? Any other cool ideas??

I don't think a Harry Potter MMO would last, browser based or otherwise. Hopefully that's not what Pottermore is.

Naturally they would be. Just because something is announced to be fake doesn't mean it is*. Often companies would rather try to cover-up a leak rather than to admit that it's true. And judging from the art style of the three screens and the art style of the announcement page, my conclusion is that the screens are, in fact, legitimate.

*Typically this only works in situations where it's a surprise release or announcement, just to be clear.

People keep saying that it won't be. As if they have proof or simething. I think some massive interactive thingy: MMO or walking around Hogwarts and seeing stuff or something. I keep thinking about some old Harry Potter RPG or MMO a dew years back. Legit graphics but can't remember.

The first Harry Potter game for the GameBoy Color was a Final Fantasy style RPG.
