Pre Order Bonus New Vegas?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 6:51 pm

I have a very serious question for anyone who might know, will the pre order bonuses be exclusive content which cannot be found later in game or is it just a starting bonus. I cannot believe that there are FOUR different pre order bonuses and this is the very reason why I ended up not buying mass effect 2 because so many pre order bonuses.

If Bethesda wants money, why not go the route of making a lot of tiny content dlc like back in the day of Oblivion? I for one bought most of the tiny packages back in the day. With Morrowind, when the GOTY came out, I bought * everything* again just because I liked it so much and it was more convenient to have it all in one place. I still own both copies much like with all of the Oblivion content, but 4 copies of New Vegas would be ridiculous.

To be honest, I don't know of anyone who bought Pre-Order purely for the special content, thats just a bonus. Most of the people on this forum (Myself included) seem to have pre-ordered the Collectors Edition soley to make sure when the game comes out, we're assured we get our special collectors edition of the game.

No, the weapons and armor in the bonuses will be exclucive, but things like the bionoculars, and the canteen are not. Though, the weapons and armor are simply variants of ones you will find in the game.

they are better versions of existing weapons. and armors. with some bonus stuff to start you off strong.

weathered 10 mm pistol > 10 mm pistol
broad machete > machete
sturdy caravan shotgun > caravan shotgun
mercenary grenade rifle > grenade rifle.

like that

yeah, once the game is out and the new GECK is out there gonna be mods of the Pre Order content a few weeks later, so just pick the pre pack you like and get the rest later.

Yes. Buying four copies of FO:NV would be ridiculous. Of course, Bethesda/Obsidian don't expect people to do that. The "pre-order bonuses" aren't DLC that everyone's supposed to get. They're enticements that are supposed to make you pick one store over another - kind of like a game being "exclusive" to a platform is an enticement to buy that PS3 or X360. In the past, pre-order bonuses might just be at a single chain, but I'd guess that this pissed off the other store chains. Not wanting to annoy their distributors, they made pre-order bonuses available to multiple stores. Of course, they have to be different, otherwise it wouldn't give people a reason to pick a certain shop.

....and I can't believe you skipped Mass Effect 2, an awesome game, over something as trivial as pre-order bonuses. Especially since they svcked. They really, really svcked. I got the pre-order armor from Gamestop. And I used it once. It was ugly, didn't work with the in-game piecemeal armor upgrade & modification system, and didn't work with the in-game armor color customization system. And it included a built in full-face helmet that didn't come off during conversation scenes, so it wrecked that too. And for this, you skipped ME2?

The canteen of the classic pack is the only "standalone" canteen of the game, making it exclusive. The only other canteens are built into certain types of armor.

I've got to believe there's some kind of non-armor-attached water container, otherwise people playing hardcoe mode are going to be screwed if they can't get their hands on those armors. (Or will be very annoyed that they can only wear certain things, since they're the only way to carry water.)

I think the canteens works as a buff to slow down the rate you get thirsty, you still have to find separate water bottles just like Fallout 3

Only the things marked as pre-order exclusives are exclusives. The binoculars, for example, are not exclusive.

I think that it is stupid that they made FOUR different pre order bonuses. Not only does it make it annoying to chose where you pre order from, but being the completionist that I am I will go crazy over those few items that I wont have access to (I'm getting the xbox version btw).
