When you get the game itself, there will be a card with the code on it in the box of the game.

Stupid question. How can it be in the game box when it's shrinked wrapped? Wouldn't they just give you the code when you picked up your copy? Or do they open it up and then re-shrink the package again?

Lot's of pre-order codes are put in the box during manufacturing now.

I remember the Stone Prisoner DLC and blood dragon armor card for Dragon Age: Origins came inside the box when i bought it new. In fact i have found it more rare to give you the cards outside the box.

while i do belive what the post before this one is correct, i also believe that there are two versions of the game manufactured.
the normal, non-pre ordered one, and the pre-ordered version, with the code-card thing already inside of it.

I never herd of them putting out 2 edtions. One with and one without the code. Guess you learn something new all the time.

I actually have a question about this, too. I pre-ordered from Gamestop, and this is the first time i'll be receiving an in-game package, so i'm not exactly sure how this works.

two questions: when i get the Classics Pack, will i be able to use it for just one character, or will all the characters i make have it? Also, will it already be on my person, or are there steps to go through to acquire it?

i dont know..
if i'm correct, you get the classic pack in place of the things you would get if you DIDNT pre-order from game stop. like, for instance, in the main game, without the POB, you would get a vault 21 jumpsuit and a 9mm pistol. with the classic pack, youd get a armored v13 suit. a weathered 10mm pistol, a v13 canteen, and some stimpacks
that help?

I'm pretty sure it loads in congruent with any other items you get maybe i'm wrong. You will get it across all characters though.

even if you played the game first then later on used the code the character you started before using the code will still get all the gear. As will any subsequent character you create.

Those weren't pre-order bonuses.

Halo Reach codes came in the box. They are put in before being shrink rapped in the factory.

Whenever you enter the code in game you will see the pre-order items appear instantly in your inventory. I don't believe that the pre-order items overwrite those that are given by Doc Mitchell at the beginning of the game though, so you will get the default gear as well as the pre-order items.
