Preparing for Skyrim .

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 8:10 am

I for one will change my monitor (switching to a 24'' Full HD LED) . Yesterday I mounted my old Creative T7900 7.1 sound system in my room ,I usually use my senheiser headsets but because of Skyrim I thougt it was time to get the dust off the speakers .They are still amazing along with a Creative X-Fi sound card . I am also building a whole new PC in the meantime .My old PC has 3 years now and that is why i need to change it .I even bought a wall mounted shield with two swords and I'm thinking of making a Skyrim wallpaper and put it next to them :)))

What are u doing to prepare and kill the time ? Besides going to work like everybody .

I just bought a new AMD Phenom II X4 955 - 3,2 GHz. It was cheap and its an upgrade. Im also getting Windows 7 64bit, cus right now I have vista 32bit and it kills me!
I'm going to keep my geforce GTX 285 for now and hope it can run Skyrim on High.

Yes, I did full hardware upgrade. My last PC was bought early 2002.
Radeon HD 6990, Core i7 960 and 6 Gb DDR3 Memory powers my new build. And my 27" LED monitor is awesome :D

New 40 inch LCD for my bedroom. At least 120hz I might go higher but I don't really think I need to

I built a new PC back in May and just purchased a PS3/42" TV, so I'm all set for Skyrim (as well as every other upcoming title I'm looking forward to) now.

I changed my monitor from a single 37" 1920x1080 TV to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236079 monitors for an eyefinity setup. Monitors should be in today. Mini dp >DVI will probably be in tomorrow. Though the change in monitors wasnt specifically for Skyrim.

Nope not upgrading. Will see what the quality is like on my PC then make adjustments from there. I'd like a bigger monitor but apart from that all is looking okay? I wouldn't even know where to start upgrading my PC but think it has a fair enough amount of RAM and a decent video card.

I've been prepared since TESV's first announcement. I wasn't ready when oblivion came and I couldn't play it for a year because of a terribad computer. Well I'm not letting that happen again.

If it's optimized well, unlike Oblivion, I'll be able to max it already.

I was considering a 2TB internal or external drive, so I could take the two 1TB ones I have and put them in RAID0, but I think I'll wait until I run out of space. Which means once mods start coming out :hehe:

We are going to upgrade the whole pc for Skyrim with my brother. And for now, I'm just trying to focus in the army... Can't wait to try the game.

No upgrades. I'm waiting at least for the next generation of GPUs from the big two. I can max settings for most games right now. It's going to run on current-gen consoles, so unless Skyrim is really poorly optimized for the PC I should be good. Besides, I probably won't look into buying Skyrim until next year unless it seems like it's really good by looking at post-release feedback.

Nope. My PS3 needs no upgrades to play Skyrim

No, not unless you want to run the game at settings that would be acceptable to most PC gamers. :P Kidding. You kind of asked for it, though.

Interesting...the requirements for Skyrim are around what the requirements should have been for Oblivion 5 years ago.

I'm in the process of upgrading everything, but it's mostly for BF3. I would've been able to run Skyrim pretty well with my old one.

Got a new i7-2600K CPU, an Asus P67 motherboard, and 8 gigs of RAM. Still looking for a high-end but reasonably priced graphics card (if anyone has any they would recommend). Not sure if I'm going to get a new monitor/keyboard/mouse or not. I'm fairly happy with my current setup.

Have just looked at the released specs and think my comp will run it on med-high which is good enough for me. I'd rather spend my money on Christmas presents than upgrading my computer. ;)

My computer meets the minimum requirements, so I'm happy. I have no intention of upgrading my current setup until it reaches the stage where it cannot play any modern games full stop.

Only thing new I did with my computer is get a new monitor and a video card for the resolution it will use... Not specifically for Skyrim but just so I wouldn't see some odd screen burn in/clouding at the top of my older monitor when playing video games.
Reorganized my loose games and dvds.
I'll be occupied with work until the 10th.

I've been trying to get enough money for an EVGA Nvidia 560 GTX TI 1GB GPU, just for Skyrim. I'm really hoping I'll have enough money in time.

I'm not doing anything to prepare, probably won't even get the game until Christmas because I don't feel like spending my cash on the game.

For the meantime I'm just going to school, doing all the homework (especially AP Calc <_<) I'm assigned daily, practicing guitar, and playing some Arkham City. Though I will be buying Saints Row 3 on release as well to fill in some time.

You're buying SR3, but not Skyrim?
