Problem
I've had the game since launch but have been unable to play it due to a strange error. When I launch the game in Steam, a Steam popup saying "Preparing to launch Brink..." appears for half a second, then nothing. No popups, error messages, etc. When I try starting the game manually through the Brink.exe file, nothing happens as well. When I have the task manager open, about every 5 times I click play or double click the .exe file, a brink process will show for half a second.

From what I've gathered, there are others with similar problems to mine. However, unlike mine (as you can see in the video), I don't get any type of splash screen or logo on startup. In fact, the game hasn't even made the "22350/local/base" folder. I cannot post any console dumps as I cannot get into the game, but I can post what I do have.

Thus far I have tried...
1) Reinstalling Steam
2) Reinstalling VC++ and DirectX
3) Reinstalling Brink from Steam
4) Reinstalling Brink from retail DVD
5) Installing pirated copy of Brink (doesn't use Steam to run)
6) Verifying game integrity and cache (keeps downloading this small file over and over again but the game still won't start up)
7) Clean (used a driver cleaner) install of latest gpu drivers
8) Clean (used a driver cleaner) install of latest performance gpu drivers
9) Downgrading back to earlier drivers
10) Restarting in safe mode (turns off sound card, antivirus, and spyware checkers)
11) Deleted clientregistry.blob
12) Turned off intro movies with the Brink Config program floating around
13) Lowered resolution to more common settings
14) Renamed the "assets" folder with the movies inside
15) Did a purge of registry, programs, startups, etc. etc.
16) Tried taking out .dll's in the folder one by one(worked for someone else)
17) Have tried running the .exe and Steam as administrator
18) Uninstalled all vc++ versions and reinstalling vc++ 2010
19) Uninstalled and reinstalled MS .Net 4 (google found a Section 8: Prejudice topic with a similar issue)
20) Clean installed the new nvidia beta drivers
21) Changing languages

In Summary
No matter which version use to install and play (Steam, retail DVD, pirated copy), nothing happens when I click play in Steam nor when I double click on the brink.exe file. The furthest I have gotten is that brief Steam popup, "Preparing to launch Brink..."

My game was ok since the mid of last week and for an unknown reason it can't start anymore.

Until last wednesday my game was running fine... since thursday 19 I can't even start it.

The first time I had the problem was with the ati 11.5 driver, I tried the 11.3 still the same.

I reinstall 3 times the game... and downloaded the same amount too...
The first time when I redownloaded it, the game was running fine but after I reboot my computer the game was unable to run again.

i have the same problem did the free steam play of the game and liked it went and payed for it came back after the dlc was done and it will not load done reinstalled 3 times with no luck
