I'm trying to download Team Fortress 2 on my laptop, when it reaches 81% it keeps pausing the download automatically and when Igo to unpause it says it's suspended.

do Ineed to redownload it? is there something Ihave to do? this has never happened, I was able todownload TF2 onto my Desktop back when it worked

any help would be appreciated
thank you

Try restarting steam then resuming download or try changing the download region.

Try changing your Download Region to see if it affects the issue:
On Windows

Start Steam
Go to Steam > Settings > Downloads tab
Under Download region, select a different but relatively close region.
Try launching or installing the game once more

On Mac

Start Steam
Click on Steam > Preferences > Downloads tab
Under Download region, select a different but relatively close region.
Try launching or installing the game once more

Do you have enough space on your laptop's Hard Drive?

uhh, well this is goig to sound really silly, but I think I found the solution, it wantted me to verify the e-mail in settings, after doing that it now seems to be continuing
I'm an idiot I know :P

fals alarm kit's still not working right, now it shows that it's downloading, but the amount is zero, as in nothing is downloading.
my laptop has 4.00 GB of RAM, and I haven't downloaded any large amount of programs, Steam should be the largest one so far. I've got Skype, AIM and Morrowind on here and Minecraft and MS word and Security Essentials, but none of those should be that large.

RAM isn't storage space, and as far as I know TF2 is a huge game. How big is your hard drive?

well TF2 did eventually download after a lot of time.

I checked properties on local disk C and saw that 52 GBs are filled and 394 GB are free space.
seems like I still have a great deal of space left.

In any case, thank you for your help, I don't think I'm in any loss for memory right now.
