Problem With Gannon

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 12:18 am

Tried to get Gannon to start his quest for me and he absolutely refused. I was on the appropriate portion of the ending quests *For The Republic, PT 2* and had visited the appropriate areas. Worst of all was he bugged out on me when I had him return to the fort and he just simply refused to be my companion again. What are the exact criteria points needed in order to get him to start the mission?

Here's what I know so far:

1. Must be on a particular mission in order for him to issue the quest/mission. This mission must be part of the mission series that allies you with a particular faction *House Always Wins, For The Republic, Render Onto Caeser, or Wild Card*.
2. Must Obtain a certain amount of history with Gannon to obtain the mission:
A. Crashed Vertibird
B. Caesers Encampment
C. Van Graff's Place
D. Repconn Headquarters

Luckily I have a really old saved file that I can pull from, but I would like to know if there's a set order I need to do things in so I can get his mission. Right now i've already completed the game and this playthrough i'm doing as much as possible.

You need good relations with the Followers.

Easiest way I found:

1) Helios 1: give power to everyone (but don't overload the grid)
2) Take Gannon to Caesar's fort and then tell him that you do not plan to ally with Caesar.

That should be enough to activate his quest.

Sounds like Arcade doesn't like your player - maybe you have a bad follower's rep?

Nope donated medical supplies until I was idolized by The Followers and received the lab coat which grants science and speech I believe *Even got the key to the safehouse*. Only thing I can think of is I went to each location first then got onto the For The Republic quest. However I didn't think that would matter and he would still give me the quest. Starting to thing he bugged out on me from the start and I had Ed-E following me. Every time I went to the locations and even afterward he would just say "What's Up".

According to the New Vegas wiki (never tried it myself) if you pick him up right before the final main quest mission, he will offer you Old Lang Syne immediately. Try dropping him and re-hiring him at the end (before you toggle the last quest I'd guess).

Think I tried that and it didn't work for some reason or another. Also read on the wiki that having Ed-E in your group + doing the first conversation with Gannon will cause him to issue it automatically. Maybe i'm not doing something right as far as the main quest lines go. Any idea what I need as far as the end quests go like exactly what quest I need to be on and how far into it? Just read it needs to be one of the above listed quests.
