Problem with the quest tutorial dialogue

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 1:53 pm

I followed the directions on the creation kit's wiki for the quest tutorial (Bendu Olo's Only Hope) to the letter. However, when I go into the game, and try to talk to my questgiver, the starting dialogue for my quest ("Do you need help with anything?") does not show up in the dialogue screen. Apparently, I'm not the only one who has had this problem, because I found 2 different videos on Youtube describing the same exact problem. Unfortunately, none of the comments offer a solution that fixed my problem. One poster suggested changing the "GetIs" condition on the dialogue to "GetisAliasRef" and choose the alias name instead. I tried that, but it didn't help.

Just wondering if anyone else did the quest tutorial, and had the same problem, and what they did to fix it.

Thanks,

I had that problem once, or something similar... on another Quest right after doing the Tutorial Quest all the way through.
Everytime I had the questgiver as an Alias, the questgiver would stop having the dialogue to the quest.

Where I went wrong was on the Quest Stages Tab. Just to the right of the 'log entry' area you will see where the 'script fragment' area is. Just below that is the 'Properties' area. In the properties I did not reference the Alias of the Questgiver to the Actor as the value of that property.

Once I referenced the Actor to the Alias then it all worked fine.

I really hope this helps. I know how it is searching for one thing in a heap of information.

Hmmm. I was having the exact same problem, so I switched to getisalias and made myself an alias for my questgiver. Won't go. He still just sits there.

So I murdered him.
