- 'Micro' stutter. i.e. if run in a circle the whole world will stutter for a split second - say - every second.
Very annoying.
- CTD.
- Slowdown.
- SLI flicker.
A quick word about my system.
GTX 295.
8GB of RAM
Intel Quad-Core CPU.
Windows 7 64 bit.
I am an engineer\architect at an ISP and have a decade of experience with computers. My machine is configured correctly. I can do the following things with 'NO PROBLEMS'.
- Play COD for hours on end at the highest detail setting.
- Play Battlefield Bad Company 2 at the highest detail setting.
- Play other games like Dragon Age, hell even S.T.A.L.K.E.R, without any issues.
- Use my machine (on a dual boot) to produce music, using EQ plug-ins, sequencers etc without any issues.
What I cannot seem to do is play New Vegas, which is (I hear) a triple A title.
Now, I am *only* talking about bugs that prevent me from playing the game, like the stutter, slowdown and CTD.
I am not talking about the numerous 'bugs' in the game, like broken quests. This I can deal with. This, I can reconcile in my mind
with the excuse 'these are big games'.
This is what i have had to do to get FNV working.
- Roll back my NVIDIA drivers all the way back to 186.18. Meaning i can no longer play any other modern, graphically intensive games.
This means my gaming computer must be a 'FNV computer' for as long as i want to play the game that i paid upwards of £55 for (collectors edition, which i pre-ordered).
- Download a directX fix from a 3rd party website.
- Spend over an hour of my time researching issues on forums.
Even having done this I am not sure the NVIDIA drivers that remove the stutter actually make the game look as good as it could.
Now, who's fault is this? It certainly isn't mine that's for sure.
I get that the gamebryo engine is not very good. I get that Fallout 4 will not use this engine (ID tech, i suppose).
I get all this, but what i don't get is how any company can release a broken product like this.
You knew the issues with the engine because customers reported them. FNV is not an expansion pack, i paid full price for it. This is not acceptable.
If I released a customer facing application this broken and this untested i would get the sack. I am not being dramatic (maybe a little), but this is a wholly truthful statement.
How did this happen? I just don't understand.
