Problems with console commands

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 12:31 pm

A couple of issues:

1. I have read in several places that the console commands are not case sensitive, but my experience seems to be the opposite.

Does anyone have anything definitive on this?

2. I cannot for the life of me get the setstage command to work.

Here is the syntax I am using (I am trying to get "A Cornered Rat" to trigger):

SetStage MQ202 0

I have also tried several other stage settings and get no on screen feedback.

The CompleteQuest has worked.

Is it a syntax issue? What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

Use must first start a quest "StartQuest MQ202".
Then you can use "setstage"

.... also i can not find stage 0, on UESP it say that stage 10 is the first stage.

Thanks, I will give that a shot. The StartQuest command was never listed in any of the threads I have read to date.

I tried that and no luck. Nothing happens at all. The system appears to accept the syntax, but there is no feedback.

There is no stage 0 for most quests. Bethesda developers seem to like starting at 10, working in increments of 1, 2, 5 or 10 then.

I tried incrementing the number and nothing.

It needs to be a valid stage. What are you trying to do?

I am trying to get the quest started.
I have tried StartQuest MQ202 and then
SetStage MQ202 0
SetStage MQ202 5
SetStage MQ202 10

All to no avail.

hmmm
what is shown if you typ in "SQS MQ202"
(SQS is the short command for ShowQuestStage)
If the Quest havn' t started yet then all stages listed should show a 0.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes4Mod:Script_Functions is a list of all "Oblivion" commands.
Almost all of these commands are still active but not all. Use a extra savegame if you want to check some of these.
