Problems with PAYPAL

Post » Sun Nov 27, 2011 12:18 pm

Last Tuesday I sent money through Paypal to buy something online. Today I received an email from the company which read:

"We have cancelled your order because Paypal have notified us of fraud".

It was something like this, but it didn't actually say that there was fraud, but that there was a chance there is fraud.

Obviously, I didn't know what to do, so I opened my Paypal and found that the billing status was "pending", and the company's status for my money was "unclaimed".

Anyone have any idea why this could happen? I cancelled my payment (although since 4 days have passed that payment should have already been processed! I didn't know and since the company didn't receive my money, I would think they assumed that I wasn't going to pay), but I'd like to know what could have went wrong. I can't seem to ask Paypal any questions because I have to open a case...but that's not possible apparently once you cancel a payment (which is why I created this thread).

I'm thinking either Paypal messed up, or something went wrong when I put money from my credit card into my paypal account. I phoned the bank and they told me I should get the money back in 3-10 days (on my paypal account it tells me that once I canceled the payment, the money should be sent back to my credit card).

I'm kinda pissed off that Paypal said I may have tried to fraud - because it made me look bad (now I'm sure I won't be able to buy anything from him).

Anyone had any similar experiences?

PS: I've paid through paypal DOZENS of times. This wasn't my first time.

Did they actually say that YOU were suspected of fraud? Because to me, it sounds like it's the company or seller that is suspected of fraud. I had an order cancelled by Paypal one time because I was buying an international textbook from a seller who apparently was shady. So unless they actually said that it's you they suspect, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions.

I was only told I'm the fraudster from the company's e-mail. Paypal told me nothing, only the payment was still pending after 4 days. It's usually cleared within minutes.

Hmm that's weird that Paypal didn't send you any info...Does the seller have a good reputation/rating? I haven't used Ebay in quite a while, but whenever I encountered weird issues, I often found the discussion forums on their site helpful...you can ask other buyers or sellers what they know about it, or you might find others who have had similar things happen. Strange!

i probably wouldn't continue business with a company that calls you a fraudster just because paypal hasn't processed the payment yet

Yeah, I figured it's a problem from Paypal's end.

I didn't buy from e-bay, it was some other website which sells tools. I took a look at it and it seems legit, and it has that seal of approval thing/logo for e-transactions.

I just want the 190GBP back. It's not my money actually, it's my father's (he wanted to buy this thing), but still.

Did you contact PayPal? I called them today to resolve a minor matter and it went very well.
