[WIP]Project Reality: Climates Of Tamriel

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 9:36 pm

Good evening everyone,

It's with great excitement that I would like to announce my forthcoming mod for Skyrim entitled 'Climates Of Tamriel'. It is a weather and lighting mod that replaces the entire vanilla weather and lighting system.
The mod brings new custom cloud textures and lighting techniques, all created from scratch. Anyway, I'll just highlight some details:

WEATHER OVERHAULED & REMASTERED
--------------------------------------------------------

ADDS 128+ UNIQUE AND DETAILED WEATHER SYSTEMS
ADDS VISUALLY STUNNING REALISTIC SKIES, SUNSETS, SUNRISES & NIGHTS
ADDS NEW SUN & SUNGLARE DESIGNED TO CREATE NICE COLOUR BLEED VISUALS
ADDS FORK LIGHTNING VISUALS & NEW THUNDER SOUNDS
ADDS AURORAS THAT NOW FOLLOW THE SUN'S POSITION

LIGHTING OVERHAULED & REMASTERED
-------------------------------------------------------

ADDS NATURAL & FANTASY LIGHTING TECHNIQUES
ADDS REALISTIC & ATMOSPHERIC NIGHTS
ADDS HIGH QUALITY ATTENTION TO DETAIL THAT HAS TO BE SEEN

The video is here: http://youtu.be/UWc87xG7vLo

The mod is being released on the steam workshop and skyrim nexus in July 2012.

Thanks for reading.

Too much graphical processing for me to see what's going on...

@Thingy Person: Thanks for posting the link. The video doesn't do it justice to be fair...

looks interesting, will give it a try when it releases, too much texture sharpening in the video for my liking though

Sky looks good, everything else makes my eyes bleed. You've stabbed my eyes with sharpness.

Yeah not really sure what the deal with the 35+ second intro was. And why it was so messed up and wavey... Was it so long so that we would have time to decypher it?

You then show a huge plate of info, when it would be more engaging to show it over the related video.

As for the actual content, I agree that it looks like you ran it through a sharpen filter way too strong. The strength of the filter actually makes it look blurry, highlighted, and farther from 'realistic' than normal Skyrim. O.o

The sun and sky does look nice though...

Looks interesting to the point I wanna try it when it comes out, but like everyone before me, the sharpening effect overkill the mod
Would it possible to see same video without it ?

Indeed. I think a reduced/removed sharpening effect and a slicker video that shows off a few more of the features (listing each one as it does, instead of one huge list) would really help. :)

It was such a grand intro. And with a mod aiming for this particular element of Skyrim, it should be one that surprises everyone. Unfortunately, I was shockingly letdown.

You also just can't show off an overhaul of this scope with graphic processing :pinch:

Well you can. You did. And blah.

The problem is that this could probably look very good and I won't even know it. I also didn't understand all the different colors of the rainbow of the beginning scenes.

If making another video seems like a tedium, just taking images of the game without any graphical adjustments (Vanilla as can be) should suffice and give a good enough idea.

Please don't use ENBseries when recording a graphical mod.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it's really appreciated. I put the video together in double-quick time, and let's just say I kind of knew it at the time. I shall do another, with a more considered approach:)

Thanks again for the positive feedback guys. I've redone the video with just screenshots which does demonstrate the mod a lot better.

Looks very nice. Will there be some sort of "darker nights/darker bad weather" option?

It's possible. It all depends on how high a demand I get for those sort of options.
