Proof that the 360 Version is Worse?

Post » Sat Jun 11, 2011 5:35 am

On Walmart's website, the 360 version of the game is $48, PS3 version is $54 and the PC version is $42

Is this proof that the Xbox version has more issues? Or is this merely due to the fact that they are selling more copies of it, and can therefore reduce the price?

Its due to the mass exodus of xbox users that only care about graphics. Quite frankly, the lag issue caused some to exit but I think the texture issue caused more, I don't understand why, I don't understand why people get caught up on graphics instead of game play but it is what it is.

First of all HI EVERYONE!

I've not seen firsthand the other platform versions of BRINK, I only have the 360, and a PC way too slow to contemplate running modern games :) I really do like BRINK - I love the graphical style, OK it's not like MW2, Homefront or Gears of War 2 (roll on 3 !! ) but it's science FICTION. It's bright and colourful in a unique way.

Anyway, here in the UK, GAME has BRINK at a reduced price, brand new, of £25, that's including the Special Edition copies as well. This was great news because I've spent less than I thought in buying my son a copy :D

TBH I've not encountered too much lag - no worse than my other gaming favourites.

I can only hope the price reduction helps more people to enjoy the teamworking game that is BRINK.

Diff.

the biggest issue for the xbox version is the lack of players, i cant speak for the ps3, but the pc version defiantly has more players.

iv heard people on the fourms talking about the texture pop-ins on the xbox, but have not experienced it in game, but the first week lagfest really hurt the numbers

I don't know about that with the pc having mroe players...

Brink was ranked 16th place out of the 20 top XBOX LIVE titles being played a while back.. same week (or following) Brink was listed with only 3000 players on Steam.

Medal of Honor has 3-6k on in a week on Xbox.. and it isn't even listed in the top 20;.... THEREFOR what I am getting at is it has more than 4000 players on (XBOX) so I think it has more players than on PC who still have CSS, TF2, BF2.. etc.

Did SD release a Dev kit or anything for the PC version yet? When they do i'll probably get the PC version for the custom maps, weapons, and Zombies.

i'm pretty sure that big chain stores like that have there prices based off the metacritic scores/ underselling other retail chains......and for whatever reason ps3 meta-score is higher that 360 meta-score.

its a shame theres a lack of players on ps3 as well, or at least theres a lack of a proper way to connect to the other players in full games.

Its because not only of the graphics, but lack of lobbies, party support of any kind, texture pop-in, and a plethora of other issues.

That and there are already plenty of other shooters that are much more fun to play. BFBC2 for example. A year and a half old, and still more fun than Brink (although I wish I had SMART in BC2).

I don't fault them for lag. Without funding for a beta, they had no way to anticipate and pre-fix the lag. And most games have lag at the get-go, so I don't hold that against them.

There is no excuse for a lack of a lobby system on consoles. Without a server browser, trying to organize friends into a match is rubbish.

Rookie mistakes.

I don't think we need anymore proof.

I can speak from the perspective of all PS3 users in saying our version...why does have the same issues as the 360 and PC versions...doesn't have them half as bad. The texture tearing happens so rarely and briefly that you barely even notice it. And after the last patch, the lag issue has almost completely disappeared. You do experience slight lag spikes, but that's usually when either the host has a crap connection or the game is migrating hosts. The only real issue plaguing the PS3 version is the random (and kinda' annoying) game freezes a lot of us have been experiencing after the last patch. But that's hardly enough to turn us away from the game. For now, the PS3 community is thriving. I doubt it'll get much bigger, but for now there's plenty enough PS3 users playing the game that you always find some in just about every match you play, competitive or against AI.

Annoyingly it was selling on Amazon for the xbox for £20. I was going to buy it but then it jumped back to £34 within a day and is now at £29 a day later. Meanwhile the ps3 version is still £20.

I think if they'd marketed and sold this as a budget title it would've gotten more forgiving reviews and a larger audience.

Shadowrun had the exact same thing happen. If Brink or Shadowrun had a $40 MSRP they would have been much, much better overall. Instead they sold for $60, got hammered by the reviews and quickly sold for a discounted price. At $40 Brink would have been a much better reception and had a lot less used game sales to damage future profits.

I picked up a new special edition copy from Gamestation today for £20. To me that's a fair price. I think if they'd originally put it out around that price range, they'd have kept the audience and probably made a bigger profit of dlc.
