So, about 15 minutes ago, my PS3 froze for the umpteenth time while using my PS3's internet browser to listen to some music on Youtube (Sony really needs to find a new and better browser for the thing) and as with before, I just shut down the system via the power button in the front of the console and heard the triple beep sound before my PS3 shut off. Upon restarting, something was different than in all previous times, however. According to my PS3, my HDD may have been corrupted and I needed to restore it, so I sat through what I presume was the restoration process and, fortunately, I still have all my saved data. The problem I have now is twofold. One, I worry a lot, so can anyone with any knowledge of HDD corruption and restoration guarantee my PS3 was not damaged in any way (probably not considering only software can really be corrupted, but as I said, I worry a lot)? Two, now every time I start up the PS3, I get a "Warning: See product documentation for proper use regarding health and safety" or something along those lines and it was never like that before. What's going on there and how do I get rid of it? Could it be that latest Vita-compatibility firmware update at work (anyone else experiencing this)? Could that also be the reason why my HDD was supposedly corrupted?
The message is indeed a firmware 4.0 update. But every time? That's odd... I received it once and never again (though I'm sure if a restore is ever performed I would see it). As far as corruption, you should be fine unless you notice any oddities with XMB. If it corruption happens again, then replacing the hdd is a twenty minute affair.
Caveat: I'm new to the PS3 scene, and probably not the most authoritative source.
