PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #16

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 1:51 am

Everyone needs to be civil about this subject. While it's perfectly fine to have a negative opinion about the lack of a solid release date, there is a way to express yourself in a civil and mature way. We do not want to see immature hostile posts or personal insults against other forum members.

It has been http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/ that the PS3 version will be delayed a bit as they are still working to ensure acceptable performance on the platform.
Also we now have the news that the https://twitter.com/elderscrolls/status/239177833199583235 so hopefully Dawnguard for the PS3 is closer. (**Now released**)

Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard's status for PS3.

It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.

Re-reading the official comment above makes me wonder if the DLC had been submitted to Sony, but it was shot-down and had to go back for modification? Perhaps Sony wants it to run smoothly for everyone, not just a percentage of folks. Just a thought.

That would track. And if it was the case would prolly be when Bethesda broke down and asked for aid.

I have tweeted questions to Pete Hines, Gstaff, Bethblog, Beth game developers, Sony, Zenimax.

Here are my tweets to these people/groups

https://twitter.com/PlayStation Please respond. What can you tell me about your efforts to help Bethesda with Dawnguard for PS3? What do you have to offer them

https://twitter.com/BGS_Devs Are you getting closer to finishing/fixing Dawnguard PS3 with Sony's help? Give us some hope!!! any improvments made at all??

https://twitter.com/DCDeacon https://twitter.com/gstaffinfection https://twitter.com/BGS_Devs Have their been improvments to Dawnguard ps3 now that Sony is involved? Are we closer to a release??

They responded with....SILENCE!

Only time will tell...

It would make sense patch 1.7 was held back in europe for reasons Beth didn't say but we all know it was because Sony said no to it and agian they never cared about quality products for the PS3 before so getting rejected caused them to hide the problems "not fix" so they get past Sony, so yes Storm you're are right we will get the DLC. But not in the way Beth will make it out to be.

I've noticed something throughout what I call the "Dawnguard Crisis" (get it, like the Oblivion Crisis? no, ok...), and that is that a lot of people seem to be blaming the PS3. I think enough people have gone over the subject and we all know the PS3 is capable of handling this. In any case (moving on so you don't all start a console war), PS3 is getting a lot of undeserved bad reputation because of this whole thing. If this keeps going, who knows, Sony may just stop Bethesda games coming to their platform. I think that would be a lose-lose situation, because Beth would lose a whole lot of money, and the PS3 players would be extremely frustrated.

Here are a couple more tweets regarding Dawnguard and some general questions asked by random fans.... (all of these to Pete Hines)

https://twitter.com/DCDeacon couldn't you just put dawnguard out for ps3 and put out a patch later

https://twitter.com/jake_kennedy20 no, we won't do that.

https://twitter.com/DCDeacon do you at least have an estimated release date

He did not respond to that last question...

Next Tweet

https://twitter.com/DCDeacon Just make a update so people can make Dragon Armour and Weapons

https://twitter.com/Josh19999 We want to get the whole thing out, not go back and take out a piece or two and release it.

https://twitter.com/DCDeacon I understand that but it would be so grateful if you could make a small update bringing some new weapons and armour in the game

I will try to keep this forum updated with the latest tweets....i guess you can call me Tweet watcher now!! lol

Kinda. The bone weapons and crossbows and such just strike me as things that should have been in the base game from day one. IMO they should not have been bundled with Dawnguard.

Not to mention i want that stuff more than any of the vampire stuff to be honest.
