I can't recieve this quest from Vilkas, all he'll give me is radiant quests when I have the heads in my inventory. I've tried doing one of Aela's quests to unblock Purity, I've tried doing a load of Vilkas's radiant quests, I've tried clearing my cache and I've tried dropping the heads and picking them back up as I've heard that worked - but all to no avail. What I'm ultimately after is doing both the brother's Purity quests, first getting an offer from Vilkas but turning it down, then doing Farkas's, then finally doing Vilkas's as I've heard this avoids bugs and it has worked for me in the past; but for whatever reason it seems to be a non-starter this time.

I don't know it could possibly be related to the fact that to get the Aela, Vilkas and Farkas out Ysgramor's Tomb after Glory of the Dead I had to accept a radiant quest from Farkas whilst in the tomb (they just weren't leaving, and though before I've fixed this problem by learning the word wall outside the tomb this time even that trick didn't work); I don't know why that would affect anything but this game seems screwy at times.

So does anyone have any suggestions about how I can make him offer the quest? Or is there a work around where I could start Farkas's and then do Vilkas's without issue?
