Purple (missing?) Object - ChoppingBlockBloody01 in Markarth

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 5:12 am

PC, dual EVGA 2gB 560Ti cards, latest drivers (can't believe nVidia hasn't updated since October)

Just downloaded the High Rez texuture pack through steam. Game is pure vanilla, no other mods. Launcher shows the two texture pack plugins enabled, along with the Skyrim master. Creation Kit shows an Update.esm also present, but it does not show in the Launcher "Data Files" dialog.

Fast traveled to Markarth, and the chopping block at the meat vendor's feet has turned purple, very like texture / bArchiveInvalidated issues from earlier gamesas games.

According to the Creation Kit (it will always be the TES CS to me), the specific object is: Reference (000C18F2) 'ChoppingBlockBloody01' (00109E7D) at Position -173950.34,5780.8081,-3362.1042

Object displays normally in the Creation Kit render window.

Is there a fix/workaround, or is this a bug in the Texture pack?

I noticed it, also. I think the cause is the texture pack as it showed up after I installed the HD Texture Pack and before the Creation Kit.

you can get a fix for that here:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8236

it also fixes woodfires01_g.dds bug, and a whole range of wrong folder names in the two HighResTexturePacks

This has already been mentioned in the following threads:

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1343750-high-res-textures-pack-somethings-missing-in-riften/
http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1343691-info-detailed-anolysis-of-highres-pack-click-to-learn/

Bethesda is aware of the issue(s) with the high resolution texture pack.

And here's a new beta driver, if you want to try.

New in 290.53

I highly suggest avoiding that beta driver. My experience with it was not a positive one.

That's not the newest beta driver released for Nvidia cards. The newest one features no improvements for Skyrim. I have used 295.53 since it was released and have had zero problems with it on a GTX 580.

I have it too. In another post I incorrectly referred to it as "a cheese wheel in Markarth".

Found more purple textures in Mzinchaleft Depths, 'CaveGLRoomDoor01Falmer' is one object I could identify in the Creation Kit, but I think there are more. While progressing normally through the dungeon, you transition from normal Dwemer Ruin architecture to a rock cave archiecture into a room with two falmer tents and some Charus Egg piles; the roof of this room has almost normal looking textures, but specled with a splotchy purple rash. On the local map this room is in the NE corner.
