put your own locks on small buildings

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 11:14 pm

i think it would be awesome to put your own locks on like small buildings and tents so you can use them as houses and store stuff safely in them and it would feel like it was actually yours, like abandoned tents and buildings

I can't see the purpose of a lock on a tent, but in general, that'd be a nifty idea in my opinion. Kind of like that re-lockable safe in Ferragut Metro.

In the old fallout games u could use the lockpik skill to lock doors so that enemies could not leave the building so u just could kill them tro the windows one at the time, it was a very useful tactic against multiple oponents before battle.
Don′t know how they would implement tha feature in new vegas.

In this case, yes. This isn't a Tom Clancy game where the player needs to move bodies out of sight and lock doors.

I like the idea of having a high enough lock pick still that we can also lock doors. I don't like the idea of taking with us locks. Locking doors with are skill would come in handy. No more enemies opening the door after you closed it. I can picture locking a door and trapping people in a room that has an auto gun in it. Hack the computer and get the gun working :D. We can lock doors in Tactics and we can also place traps on the doors and containers. I would love to come home and see a robber blown to bits.

S oif that's the case we remove the First Person Aspect of the game that's been done. Oh yeah and the RPG element as well.

This ideal would really only make sense if they make it so npcs can't magiclly get into locked stuff while still leaving the lock intact like they could in FO3, even your own allies could not only know there was a better weapon in that very hard locked container but could walk over and grab it without having to undo the lock.

i sort of meant as well you know how in fallout 3 storing stuff in public buildings was liable to dissapear, if you could put a lock on it or relock the door then it would become sorta like your house where goods could be stored safely

I am all for relocking. Depending on you're skill level that is. Not carring around padloack or something like that. Most doors already have locks on them so why carry them around? We have a lock pick skill so it stands to reason we can relock them. Like we can in Tactics :fallout:

This was a fun feature in the first two fallouts, and if New Vegas really is more difficult than F3, like F2, then it would be a good feature.

Actually, I could see this being useful if enemies will chase you out of cells. You could lock the door to stop them from reaching you.

You could also do this within a cell to "openable" doors. (IE doors that swing open instead of loading you up)

And assuming that NPCs will occasionally roam around and loot stuff in the environment, locking it away would be a good way to keep it safe.

I always liked the lock spell in morrowind, and I didn't like that they took it out in oblivion.

Same thing happened with Fallout. I say bring it back!

I like the idea. Keep NPCs in the area your using as a living quarters to just grab your stuff and of course give more use out of the lockpick skill.

Seems a little too complicated. It's so much easier to just go home instead.

xD True

I like the idea, you could run in a gate like area with enemies following you and quickly run out. Then, lock the door real quick.

The idea's fine... for certain things. You shouldn't be able to just lock everything in the Wasteland. And, as a wanderer you shouldn't have some permanent place of residence outside of a major settlement.
