Quest bug, help plz

Hi,

I've been trying to get a so called "perfect skyrim account"
But on all my accounts there is a quest that cannot be finished even though I do have the quest item

On my first account there was a scroll I was suppost to get for this mage, but she died, so now I can't get rid of that item
Second account: I did the stormcloak vs imperial quest before the main quest, because of that I can't ask jarl Balgruuf to trap a dragon anymore...
On my third account there is a small quest to pickup a book from a giantcamp, the 'quest arrow thingy' points to a chest, but I already have that book
Apparently the game doesn't know that.... So now I can't finish that quest too...

Any advice how to avoid those bugs?

Pardon my ignorance but, what is a "perfect skyrim account"?

I'm assuming the mage you are talking about is Anska. If she died then you are stuck with the scroll. The only way you would fix this is by using an earlier save.

You should be able to talk to Balgruuf about the Dragon even after doing the civil war quest. I'm assuming you went stormcloak and balgruuf is no longer the Jarl of whiterun. If the new jarl doesn't have the dialog option for the dragon, you could go to Solitude and see if you can talk to Balgruuf. He hides in the Blue Palace with all the other jarls.

And the book. The thing with the book quests is that they are random. If you have picked up the book before the quest is given then the book won't be in the place where the librarian sent you and he won't recognize that you have it in your inventory, therefore you can't complete the quest and you are stuck with that book forever.

Unfortunately the only way to avoid most of these bugs is by having earlier saves. My advice would be to make multiple manual saves before getting these quests so in case any of these things happen you can go back. Don't rely solely on autosaves.

Also, welcome to the forums. If you have more of these problems or questions there are lots of lovely people here that are willing to help you :)
