You still have quests with it, that's why.

Ya I have about 10 items that are just stuck there forever, and quests are done for them too. Mainly books, the damn scroll. I also have darvins(?) bow, but he doesn't want it and I'm not sure where or what it's for. I actually got that out of my inventory by putting it on a wall mount at my house!

If you are playing on a PC then you can find the item's ID (they all have one) online and then type "player.removeitem (itemID) (Number of items)" in the console.
I had this problem. As long as you will never need them again, this works very well.

Example: player.removeitem 00013982 1
Typing that would remove an iron mace from your inventory.

Well I was supposed to find This a dude's drum...... But when i delivered it I got the training but the damn drum was still there. So are all the other instruments I've collected for Bard's college members.

Are you playing on a PC?

Finn's Lute: player.removeitem 000DABAB 1

Pantea's Flute: player.removeitem 000DABA7 1

Rjorn's Drum: player.removeitem 000DABA9 1

Enter those into the console. In case you are unsure, the console should open up once you press the key underneath the ESC key. It's usually "~".

They don't weigh anything. Also you can sell the elder scroll to the librarian at winterhold college.

Some quest items do have weight and some of them can't be removed, ever.

This need to be fixed IMO. That said I do not think they have an actuall weight, even if it shows on the item info.

Maybe you should look in your journal and find a quest involving the scroll before you start complaining.

I have an utter shed load of crap stuck in mine, and i hate it because it makes things harder to find. Annoyingly they're all items from completed quests that were never removed. Had the problem the other way too, people not giving me items (luckily i could still pickpocket them though.

Also had a word wall that it wouldn't let me read, got 3 quest markers pointing to it forever now.

you do realize that quest items dont actually weigh anything yeh they show the stat but it doesnt matter, if you dont believe me just drop all of your stuff and you will see that your encumbrance is 0

I have read that if you obtain quest items before you get the quest, they will never leave your inventory. Even after you obtain the quest and turn it in.

Yeah those Bard instruments are slowly peeving me off, as for the Atunement Spheres, you need them to go back to Blackreach if you want. I wish the Stones of Barenziah would stack too...

Want to know something REALLY funny? Simply get sent to jail. Your [censored] goes to the chests. EVERYTHING. Even quest items.

So break out, get your [censored], but dont take out the quest items. There you go, no more quest items. Simply leave them at the jail.

The elder scroll is used in the main storyline involving the dragons, I wont go into any more detail!

I also have the problem with the bards collage quest items... the flute is still in my inventory even though she apparently took it...
The lute... well she is stuck in a loop and wont end the darn quest...
and I just can't bring myself to get the drums to take even more inventory space up... ah problems...

I have a flute, a lute, a drum, an amulet and a bunch of other crap I can't get rid of. And those gems from the "no stone unturned" quest keeps adding up! Damn annoying that you can't store them away!
