Quest Journal

Hi

I am really disappointed by the Quest Journal in Skyrim. It was way better in Oblivion in my opinion.

1. I liked the "old paper" style much more

2. You can't see previous objectives of any quest...

3. In Oblivion, objectives had much more details, we could see the thoughts of you character, and useless but interesting things like: I need to be careful in this cave, because... Now it's: **** wants me to do this. I will go to *** and get this.

What about you?

Aren't all the previously completed quests listed under the active quests, in gray? Unless you're talking about miscellaneous objectives, which then yes, I agree.

That's my biggest gripe, is the miscellaneous list. The damn things pile up so quick, and they're all lacking in description. "Bring the ring back to Ysolda"...what ring? Who is Ysolda? Where is she? Why did I do this? Place a few hours or even days of gameplay between picking up the objective and finishing it, and it gets easy to forget all the details. And using quest markers to finish it is no fun.

I've been going back to pen and paper to keep my quest objectives on - which is both neat and annoying at the same time.

Screw the quest journal (packed full of incompletable glitched missions), my map is a nightmare! S many locations, i can hardly find anywhere. Looks good, but i don't get what the tilt angle thing is about, and the old map was easier to find your way round.

I'm talking about the previous OBJECTIVES of a quest, not quests. I know you can see completed quests, but I like to see what I did previously in a quest, like we could do in Oblivion

That's another thing I liked better in Oblivion. Paper map is a lot easier to read than a 3d map with *ing clouds hiding everything >.>

I like the map but agree the clouds get in the way. Wish it were a bit easier to see. I use the paper map that came with the game more...like to add notes on special areas I found...more for RPing then anything else.

Yes in oblivion, it was a good thing because when we were doing quest it was more attractive and funny to do. We saw what the character was thinking in is head and like a real journal. It's a thing who i loved of oblivion but in skyrim i d'ont know why it's not the same.

would be great if someone modded the game to do this, but I doubt it... anyway, Bethesda should have done this in the original game

My biggest gripe is that they are no markers for the miscellaneous quests that pop up during the course of a game so far. I cannot remember for the life of me who I was supposed to do what for. Feels like I am going round and round...Silly. I do agree that the journal and map could have been done better...

My only problem with the mapping is that 1 minute locations arnt there even after youve gone through an area then alittle later on you can find them once you go back through the area

In terms of the journal: while yes, it could have been a little more detailed, I much prefer it to Oblivion's. The sleek style, the way it's organized, the way the objectives are set out etc.

In terms of the map: I adore it. Truly. I think it's a wonderful addition to the game- the only way I would improve it is by having major roads shown as thin lines on the map, for navigation. Far from a necessary addition, though.

I miss the history of the old journal, you can read through all you've done in detail - not its just a title in a list pretty much :(
