Question about fortifying sneak

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 1:10 pm

I currently have 100 sneak with all the perks. I never really have any issues with being spotted. Is it still worth getting rid of my dark brotherhood armor to enchant some pieces with fortify sneak? Just curious. Thanks for any help.

100 sneak, even with no perks in sneak, is almost like 100% chameleon in oblivion. no reason to boost it unless for some odd reason you feel you are getting detected more than you should

I asked myself the same question, and decided that yeah, I'm going to go ahead and boost it by a small amount if I'm able to and just switch out gear when I'm not sneaking around. Without it I'm near undetectable, but I do prefer to be able to sit right in front of someone's face and not be seen, or walk through an entire crowd without being spotted. It just makes life easier from time to time. If you feel like you want to be able to do that, I don't see why you wouldn't carry an extra amulet or something on you that would help with it.

I know I don't feel like I get detected easily at all. Actually quite the opposite. I guess I'm one of the few whole like the dark brotherhood armor...lol. I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing out on anything. Honestly if there isn't much light, I can still walk right up to a target from the front and they don't see me. If I could do that in broad daylight, It would feel broken to me...lol.

On this topic, what does the muffle spell/enchant do compared to sneak?

Muffle enhances sneak, there seem to be checks for both sound and movement.

Save the enchantment slot for something else. If you can't think of anything to boost your character's efficiency (you've 4* fortify primary weapon, maxed resistances), just go with fortify health. At 69 Sneak only dragons can detect me because of their flying ability that gives bird eye's view, and anything else in a dungeon treats my toon as if I have 100% Chamelon in Oblivion. Even if 1 SA arrow doesn't kill, you can simply backtrack, hide for 2 seconds and retry. Done it on dwarven spheres, centurions, dragur deathlords and one dragon priest on masters difficulty. :P

Not only do you not need Fortify Sneak enchants, but I wouldn't recommend putting anymore than 1 point into Stealth. The first point grants a 20% boost to Sneak, but every point thereafter only grants an additional 5%.

100 Sneak skill, 1/5 Stealth, and Muffled Movement/ Muffled boot enchant (which don't stack btw, so you shouldn't have both) are all you need.

If you like to aproach dragons to give a free frist backstab hit, well go for the perks :) (the F****** elder dragons awaken even with 100 sneak+perks, damn those lisards GRRRR!!!).

I use muffle it's pretty useful, tough i think that at 100 sneak it's not necessary anymore.
