question about frost

Ok so for the quest where you steal frost I understand that there are two options at the end
  • get your money and give him frost
  • get your money and frost
I also heard that if he takes frost maven sends thugs after him that kill him.

So simply for rp purposes. If I were to give him frost then follow him until the thugs killed him, would I be able to claim ownership of frost? If not then where does he go?

He disapears from the game, as far as I know. I never saw him again.

You are better off killing him and taking Frost. That way you are garanteed to get Frost.

Maven never sends thugs after him. Instead, she magically duplicates him, buries one of them in the ground in front of the Whiterun stables and makes the other one stand beside him for all eternity. True story.

Is there any path through this quest that prevents the Louis Letrush duplication bug? I don't particularly care about Frost anyway. I want Shadowmere.

As far as I know, Maven only sends thugs after Louis if you take Frost and tell her what Louis tried to do.

I took Frost, never reported to Louis, and that little filly waits where I leave her, and aggressively attacks anyone who is attacking me. I saw an ambush in the distance, dismounted, and she took off ahead of me to take them out....

Only thing you can do is kill him after stealing Frost. It glitches again at the end of the quest, but as long as you select the option that suggest your murdering him, he's marked un-essential and can be killed.
