question about German version from Amazon.de

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:28 am

Hello. This is propably lost cause, I stupidly sc :shocking: :shocking: this myself, but it does not hurt-much-more asking:so, I purchased the Collector's Edition from Amazon.de, hoping that it would be a multilingual vesrion.Nope,

there is only the German language option available for installation within installation DVD's contents.I was at least hoping there might be the chance for english subtitles, so I made the change to ENGLISH in all relevant folders and files, both ini's. and texts.Nope, the only spoken and displayed language is the German one.

I have absolutely no regrets for buying the CE's from Amazon-superb support by the way-,but I want to know before repurchasing the game from Steam, is there any remedy for bringing the British/Americans into my game?

Thanks and try not to choke while laughing eh?

This isn't really a funny matter for you as I can see. (Your most likely going :swear:)

Sadly as I know there is no current way to change the language for the game, Also on the back of the case of the game in clear read right beside the rating of an M it says the language.
Mine says [Game Disc in English], You may have a shot at returning it if you haven't used the key they given you with the game. (If you did you cannot be refunded sadly)

In Steam, go to Library, right-click the New Vegas entry and choose Properties.

Fourth tab in mine is "Language" and gives five choices: English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. I can switch between these, and Steam downloads a big chunk of files to switch the game.

However, the German release is a special release (No Gore) so I don't know if you'll have that option.

Greetings.Thank you for the replies.Unfortunately,I'm stuck only with the German language option, I have to repurchase my game through Stean, as for a refund-return it's a no go, I allready have my game installed. What it freaks me out, I played a couple of hours before abandoning it-for the obvious reason,lol- and it run perfectly without AA on Ultra. Now, it's gonna cost me one hundred and thirty euros in total. :banghead:

I want to scream out of dissapointment and be mad, but I love Obsidian too much to be that low,it was my fault alone, svcking it up, moving on...

Thank you for both the replies, much appreci :icecream: ated.

Steam may not even allow you to repurchase it since the version you bought is already registered to your account.

If they do prevent it, email them directly and ask about language options. Maybe you can just use your CD-key to download the version from Steam's servers and get the language options that way.

I didn′t try NVSE so far, but already changing the language to English is impossible.. WHY?!

I mean, reduced gore for us Germans, fine. But what makes our version so fundamentaly different from the rest of the world, that we cant switch the language of the interface and dialouges?
Could someone from Bethesda please explain?!
I mean.. what can the dialouges contain, that makes this kind of censorship neccesary? So far I encountered either by dialouge or dircetly ingame : Murder, selling of a seemingly pregnant woman into slavery, [censored], headhunting, the possibility to use solar power as a weapon of mass destruction, crucifixion, burning a man alive, crippling a mans legs so he lives, but is not able to leave the place where his comrades are crucified, beating up a defensless prisoner of war as an interrogation method... what on eraht can the english language version contain, that is more severe?
Fallout 2 and 3 even had the possibility to support genocidem and that wasn′t censored...

All my other steam games work fine in English, no matter their rating in Germany..but not New Vegas.
