A question about iTunes

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 9:22 am

This is a quick question to anyone who has iTunes on their computer; will downloading it onto a new PC from the Apple website mean that you will have to manually load all apps, videos, music whatever, onto the new PC, even if I sync the 'new' downloaded application with my old, current account active on my main PC?

Sorry if this is too elaborate, I need to be quick about this as I am off to University soon (two weeks), therefore will not have direct access to my main desktop. Plus I want to be thorough.

complicated as there's a lot of changes going on on the iTunes platform at the moment.

Last time I had to change over (a year or so ago), the music and apps werent carried across automatically (but could redownload for free), and movies/TVs couldnt even be redownloaded, you need to manually move it by copying across the library on like a USB dongle or something

However with the iTunes Cloud and iCloud stuff its all gotten a lot more complicated and I'm not sure how it works anymore. My advice would be to wait for iCloud to open, back up your library there and then redownload.

I don't know about apps or videos because I only do music. I am going to say you purchase all your music, so with that case. When go to install iTunes on your new computer or a different one, when you access your account all of you purchases will be there with it. My old computer just got hit bad with viruses and was old anyways, so when we got a new one. My first thought was that I am going to have to redo everything. But I didn't, and you don't either. All purchases are account tied I concluded after I had to install iTunes on the computer we have now. By the way this was last year, I don't know if anything has changed as stated by agent_c.
