A question about Khajiits.

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:32 am

I started a new character and I choose to play as a Khajiit assassin / theif. Know I'm lost as to what to refer to him as, I know the Argonian assassins are known as Shadow scales and the human races have the Black hand so what do Khajiit have? I searched races on the Wiki and found info. on the Khajiit race lots there about religion, the diff. classes and the conflict between Argonians and Khajiit. So my question is, if Argonians have the Shadow scale, humans have the Black hand so what is the Khajiit counter part called?

Shadowscales, Dark Brotherhood, Black Hand are the same thing. So there is nothing specific, I believe, for a Khajiit.

Not sure about Khajiits, but I don't think the Black Hand is man race exclusive.

Khajiits don't have any assassin guild we know of. Closest thing would have been the Renrijra Krin, but they're more of a drug cartel / robin hood gang.

Although I'm sure such operations would exist in Elswer on a small scale there is nothing I've seen or read about larger more organized ones. There probably is, though.

I don't think your right, Shadow scales are a assassin class in Black Marsh and are raised from egg to advlt trained to be assassins. They join the Black hand when they leave Black marsh or if the Black hand pays for said Shadow scale hatchling if I'm not mistaken. So why is there warrior class Khajiits but no assassin class? And if I'm not wrong the warrior class is called Cathay or is that just a sub-culture in the Khajiit culture?

Shadowscales are Argonians born under the sign of the Shadow, and taken by the Dark Brotherhood at birth to train as an assassin for the royal court of Argonia.

Spoiler
Right now, though, the Shadowscales are gone if you did the DB questline

The Black Hand is just a higher branch of the Dark Brotherhood

Spoiler
It is just different in Skyrim because that DB is the last one in the empire

Lore:Shadowscales

The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995

Shadowscales are a special part of the Dark_Brotherhood. In the Argonian homeland of Black_Marsh, those born under the sign of the Shadow are taken at birth and presented to the King of Black Marsh. A Shadowscale hatchling is then trained in the arts of stealth and assassination by the Dark Brotherhood, and lives a life in service to the mighty kingdom of Argonia. Any Shadowscale who lives to come of age is accepted into the Dark Brotherhood as a full member of the family.
Shadowscales probably follow the same Five Tenets traditionally followed by members of the Brotherhood. However, the only ones that known to be true are, never disobey or refuse to carry out an order from a superior and never kill a fellow Shadowscale. The only difference between these is that, if a member of the Dark Brotherhood kills a fellow family member he must fight the Wrath_of_Sithis to earn forgiveness. With Shadowscales, however, refusing to fulfill a contract is viewed as treason, and the traitor will be put to death. With the Death of the last known living Shadowscale it is possible that the Shadowscales have been entirely wiped out.

According to this they are a part of the Dark brotherhood but are called Shadow scales by their kind only to be trained by the Dark brotherhood, so why nothing in the Khajiit culture? It's only reasonable to assume that with their natural abilities that there would be a Shadow cat or something along those lines born under the shadow sign that the Dark brotherhood would farm from the Khajiits.

Yep, and if you played Oblivion, there is a DB sidequest where a genuine Argonian Shadowscale explains this bit of history. Unfortunately, the Oblivion Argonian Shadowscale's do not refer to you as Shadowscale even if you play an Argonian with the Shadow birthsign and join the DB.

Re the OP, I love playing Khajiit but am admittingly not all that up to speed about the lore. Probably because I don't like the Khajiit lore of being a slave race that much, so I don't pay attention to it. My Khajiit thinks that Khajiit, not Altmer, are the superior race because of their superior agility, stealth and nightvision. And he isn't about to let some poncy mage or egg headed historian tell him otherwise. ;)

The best bet.
