Question about making custom armor

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 2:38 pm

Hey!

Been trying my hand at making some custom armor for my character. My intent was to put together pieces from
different armor/clothes, but as I soon found out, the .nif files used in Skyrim seems rather "merged", if that is
a sensible way to put it. I made some custom armor in Oblivion some years ago, where the armor pieces in the
.nif files were sort of segmented; you could, for instance, just pull off the shoulderpieces from a cuirass and
add them to another .nif. But now the whole cuirass seems to be just one big model. Am I missing something or
is loading the model up in Blender the only way to, say, pull the "skirt" segment of some robes and add it to
another piece?

Thanks!
