Question about smithing and increasing weapons and armor

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 9:36 am

I made a Daedric bow wearing a ring/amulet/potion etc... with +20% smithing, now my enchanting has increased and I can increase that to over 30%. Do I have to reforge new armor/weapons every time or can I just us the table and the grindstone to increase them.

Thats good, I was worried I would have to make new weapons/armor every time.

If your smithing level isn't high enough to improve enchanted weapons, you'll have to do new ones (assuming you enchanted as well as improved them to begin with....)

You can just use the grindstone and the worktable to increase them.

I thought we couldn't improve weapons once they were enchanted, but we can? :o ...or maybe you can't RE-enchant them? ...or can we? o.O

If you have that smithing perk (which is at level fifty I *think* (not in game so can't check sorry), you can improve enchanted gear.

Arcane Smithing requires Steel Smithing and Smithing skill at level 60. Yes, you can improve weapons and armour that are already enchanted, once you have Arcane Smithing.

Ah, 60! Thanks, can't remember stuff like that out of game.

*giggle* Well, I would have too, but I'm having issues with my wildblue modem, it's dropping packets like CRAZY, so half the time it won't load more than one site in firefox.... *sigh*

What about re-enchating an enchanted item? Can that be done or are they locked and can only be smithed or de-enchanted? :\

AFAIK - you can only smithing-upgrade a previously enchanted item when you have the Arcane Smithing perk. You can't "change" or "add to" the enchantment - to do that, you have to start over with a "bare" item.
