Question about subscribed mods

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 12:08 am

Before I run the game ( I use SKSE via NMM to do so) I check via the Steam launcher if my subscribed mods are up to date. It always takes a long time to check. Does that mean that the mods are updated or are they being downloaded all over again? Generally its the mod on Oblivion and Morrowind drinks that takes a while.

thanks

The problem is that SW uses file dates to determine whether mods need to be updated, and NMM uses File Date to set load order. So it's redownloading all of your mods every time you open the launcher regardless of whether or not they need updating.

What I do is unsubscribe from a mod immediately after it finishes downloading, and then resubscribing when it updates. That way I only ever download 1-2 mods on SW at a time.

I solve this problem by using the Nexus. :obliviongate:

THANK YOU. I generallt use the Nexus but felt like giving the Workshop a whirl and find it very annoying.

I've got two mods that I downloaded from the Workshop and I hate that aspect. If I decide to not use the mods and move them from my Data folder to a different folder that I've called UNUSED MODS it redownloads the mods. I find it incredibly annoying. I'll be unsubscribing them.

In relation to Steam Workshop, I downloaded the HD Texture packs but for some idiotic reason I can't use either of them without my game crashing even though my PC surpasses the requirements. If I move the two files to my Unused Mod folder it still downloads the textures. If there a way to stop that as well?

So the only way to stop this is to not use SW for mods if you get them elsewhere as well? Takes me about 10-15 mins for the launcher to redownload them all whenever I download a mod from the Nexus or wherever. Annoying...

I was getting sync errors and eventually just quit the whole cloud backup, moved ALL of my mods to NMM and now have zero issues with delays and no more rediculous error messages. I'm sure SW will be awesome by the time TES VI rolls around but for now it's a little too beta and server connection dependant. If I relied on it, I would be SoL.

Or just unsubscribe (they're still there and active, they just won't be re-downloaded every time) and check for updates manually.
