Question about the Dawnguard beta signup...

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 7:32 am

What would happen if I were to fill out the survey for the beta again?

It replaces your previous entry. I wouldn't recommend doing it now though as the beta keys could even be coming out today. But overall, I'd say nothing bad should come of it.

Not only that, but repeated entries could be taken as an attempt to 'cheat' the selection process by having multiple applications (Though as you say, it replaces each previous one)

Though those selected may find out soon, I can't see them giving the keys out or giving access to the beta until 1.6 goes live on the consoles.

I have a feeling that 1.6 may be given to the consoles simultaneously with the release of the beta. Otherwise beta testers couldn't ply Dawnguard with mounted combat.

That's what I'm thinking. Actual access to the beta will only occur once the patch goes live. Give or take a day, since they'll want to be sure the patch didn't kick up new issues.

For most people the answer is never. So I wouldn't get too excited.

Why is that? Only a select few are chosen I take it?

I wouldn't believe it dismisses your chance to be selected but at this point they may already be in the selection process

Yeah, only a handful (Maybe around 100-200) will actually be selected. That was the purpose of the application to ensure they get a balance of players, playing styles and can weed out those that are only after getting the DLC early (and free) and won't contribute to the actually beta testing itself by making bug reports.

If everyone who applied got the beta, then potentially every xbox player could have got the DLC for free.

Plus a smaller, better controlled group will make it easier to sort out bug reports rather than several hundred bug reports consisting only of 'it crashed!!!'

edit: Plus it'll make it easier to track down and take legal action against anyone that distributes it or leaks details. Part of the terms and conditions included a fairly strict Non Disclosure Agreement from what I understand.

Hey I was wondering, where do I go to sign up for this beta. I'm really new at this and don't think I will be selected, but it's worth a shot :)

Well, the patch is out now :D so I am gonna start refreshin' ma inbox every few hours.

I do not expect anything until tomorrow or sunday though.IF I get picked.

Maybe bethesda will let the testers have it early? They surprised us with the patch.

They might choose beta winners tonight. Or tomorrow morning. Why else would they put 1.6 out early?

They could be testing for bugs early. A large beta test wouldnt turn out so well if it couldn't be delivered properly.

Still, I will remain optimistic.
