Just out of curiousity... is there anything in game that tells u what will happen when u shout at the orb? Just find it kind of strange that it would be something u only find out through trial and error

Ive not found anything that mentioned it in any of the books in the game. But I havent read them all or even that many of them to be fair. Though I only found out because I did Blackreach and I thought "Is that it?" and looked at the wiki to see if there was anything else left.

Only information I could find in wiki.

According to the ancient text "The Dragon's Calling" it tells of an ancient dragon that lives in the world of the Dwemer, and has long since been trapped, locked away for his treachery. It explains that he was a friend of Alduin's.

Supports the dragon's existence, but not why shouting at the orb brings him there.

I never saw anything in the books, although I am still collecting them, never got any hints from any characters in the game. I spent a lot of time down in Blackreach, after several visits I was looking for something a bit different. I like wandering around high places to see if there is anything hidden, sprinted across to walk across the sun, sprinted over to the lower roof and looked back and it was just too tempting. I wanted to see if I could make it fall. Tried every spell and shout from several locations and got a reward eventually, even if it never did what I wanted it to.

As to why it brought the dragon, the sun rang like a bell, he answered. Seems a good enough explanation. I do remember reading something later about named dragons, but I do not think it was one of the games books. I was curious as to why that particular dragon was named, so went and googled the name.
