A question for those who enjoy the game.

Was there anything that you read about or heard about during the development of Skyrim that you thought was not going to live up to your expectations, but when you played the game that thing met them instead.

I have to admit I was not excited about this game. I played some of Morrowind and a lot of Oblivion but I just didn't think too much of Skyrim when they annouced it. I didn't like the snow/cold area.

Once I played it though, I loved it. Every plant, rock, boulder, tree and snow line seems to be placed by hand. The environment it so detailed.....I love it.

The game basically turned out exactly how I was expecting it to be. It's borderline perfect.

Probably, but I forgot it as soon as got out of Helglen.

Yea despite some small falls this game is what I thought it would be. This game is basically the RPG i dreamed about 10 years ago playing Baldurs Gate on the PS2.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well-executed the lore and environment was, making for a really integrated experience of the land of Skyrim as a character itself. Hadn't expected to be so swept up in the honor and glory of adventuring in a cold, stark Viking inspired land. Hadn't expected how well the races would be made to fit in this environment; my Sinbad-like Redguard is quite at home. GOTY.

I was so happy to hear there was another game like Oblivion coming out. Other than Mass Effect 3, this is the game I have been most excited to buy.
Yes it has lived up to my expectations, and more.
I can live with the bugs, for now, I have the faith in Bethesda that they will perfect the game.

I think the overall conflict about the "generic" seemingly European landscape was something I had major concerned over. After seeing what was basically a medieval fantasy theme park in Oblivion I kind of expected something similar out of Skyrim.

Not so, as each town seems to have its own style of construction, and the details make the buildings look weathered shelters against the cold.

When I first learned that TES5 was going to take place in Skyrim, I was dissapointed it wouldn't take place in Akavir, which I had hoped. But ever since I saw the first screenshots, I got more and more excited about this game. And after 150 hours of gaming so far, I forgive Bethesda for not featuring Akavir until TES6...

The combat. Everything that they said about it made it sound like it was going to be Oblivion's combat with dual wielding and an overhauled magic system. Really, that's what it is, but it just feels so much better.

I was excited for the attention to environmental detail...I was not disappointed there at least...Still a top quality game though. 8.9 out of 10 imo. I give no game a ten unless my mouth is a haven for flies by the time my jaws stop dropping.

So far Skyrim is my favorite TES game to PLAY.

Morrowind is still my favorite GAME to play though. Just played it unmodded btw. Nostalgic goggles justified.

Yeah, I read it was being developed by Bethesda. Thus, I immediately assumed it would be bug ridden and not work properly. I was pleasantly surprised when it actually functioned well for the first 60 hours. Unofrtunately, now that I'm 144 hours in and can't play with the game for more than 5 minutes without it freezing, I'm back to square one on this thought process, and wondering how in the world they received a developer of the year award. So, I guess my answer is yes, and no, because I was faked out into thinking they had outdone themselves for about the first half of my play time.

I read and heard a lot about it, but when you have played games for a good 28+ years you kind of get the understanding to not always trust marketing 100%. On the other hand Skyrim has lived up to my expectations, and I look forward to see the mod community go crazy and provide some really nice mods in the future :)

TBH, i bought Oblivion for my Wife a few years back, but other than that, I am not really up to snuff on ES lore. So it wasnt really something i followed with a lot of attention.
When they launched the first trailer though, I felt disapointed in t. It looked so much like Gamebryo- and for a new game i didnt really feel it should use outdated graphics.
Mind you, I am not a huge graphics snob- the grap[hics in F3 and NV didnt really bother me. Mostly i think the graphics bothered me because there were a huge amount of people that were going on and on about how great it was going to look.

So i decided to buy it anyway and not base it on its graphics and its fine by me. I am enjoying the depth.

amazing..truley amazing.the enviorment is so enthralling that i get a different feel when im in each town or wandering around outside.right down to the stars and 2 moons moving in the night sky........well better thn expected

im playing on the ps3 and have not had the issues that people are reffering to and im 80hrs in??

the graphics, dungoens, caves are well designed and look very atmospheric

so the answer to your question is that its exceeded my expecations and i didnt have any false ones..the only thing i would say is the guilds are @?:?:@? compared to oblivion. and WHY WHY WHY did the get rid of your fame/reputation and the insignias that went with it especailly in the guilds as it takes away a sense of achievement.

but thats small change in the overall game....LOVE SKYRIM :tes:

The sheer scope of the game and how much there is to do really blew me away. There are so many distractions in this game.. It's crazy.
