A question to Jason Bergmann

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 5:51 pm

I have two questions,

1. Will the AK47 from fallout tactics be making a return, if not, why?

2, Will the MP38/40 from fallout tactics be making a return, if not, why?

Good questions

1. It could happen I'm not sure on the lore about AK47's in the Fallout Universe. I do know they got replaced by the Assault Rifle in FO3 the R91. There could be an exclusive weapon possibly in Old World Blues.

2. I have no idea, me personally I'd say yes as new weapons are always a good thing when they are good and not crappy like a .32 calibur from FO3 or the .22 Silenced gun from New Vegas.

1. I would love to see the AK47 in Fallout New Vegas
2. We already have a 9mm sub machine gun, similar in appearance, but maybe they will add the mp38 as it looks different, although it is still 9mm.

yes, but this 9mm sub machine gun is german, and more damaging and far more accurate.

yes, but this 9mm sub machine gun is german, and more damaging and far more accurate.

Questions for extrapolation:

1. Is it "more damaging and far more accurate" because it is "german", or is the fact that it's "german" simply coincidental?

2. If the answer to question #1 is "yes", could you please explain why it simply being "german" makes it "more damaging and far more accurate"?

3. If the answer to question #1 is "no", could you please explain why it is "more damaging and far more accurate" than any other smg firing the exact same cartridge?

-Thank you in advance for your explainations and answers, Gunny.

Isn't the Chinese Assault Rifle from Fallout 3 a tweaked version of the AK? Couldn't they change the model a little to make it work?

Within its range, the MP38 had less spread, rounds where grouped tighter. It had less kick back so you stayed on target longer while firing.

getting tired of WW2 guns.

Oh, you mean, like... the Assault Rifle? Or the Marksman Carbine? What about the 9mm? Is that a WW2 gun? Or the Riot Shotgun? Surely that thing must be ancient. How about the Anti-Materiel Rifle? Without a doubt THAT thing must be from WW2... I mean, right? Right?

I can see how you'd get tired of WW2 guns. Seeing as how those are the only options in the game. /sarcasm

I don't think the mp40/mp38 was any more less accurate then the 9mm grease gun, which is what the Fallout new vegas 9mm is. In terms of damage, they both use the 9mm caliber bullet, but the mp40 has 300FT/S muzzle velocity more than the grease gun, but still not much difference in terms of damage.

Still waiting for the OP to chime in with what he meant here. I'm not gonna assume that he specifically meant that the barrel length was why the MP38/40 might make it more or less "damaging" or "accurate".

Somehow I would imagine that to be a prudent assumption :P

I'm thinking he simply wants it to be an upgraded 9mm smg and just suggested the mp40 because it was in tactics.

Bet me large amounts of money right now that he's basing his assumption off of Call Of Duty.

Personally, I'd much rather have an M2 HMG. I mean, we've got .50 MG bullets but no machine gun to fire them out of! It's terribly sad. :(

give me my R91 and I'll be happy.

Gunny, .45 ACP - IS the BMG the ammo type? And isn't the giant 50 Calibur Machine gun developed by Browning use the BMG?

I think Sawyer said they would have at least 2 weapons per ammo type, so I agree this would be a nice add-on.

BMG with incendiary rounds. :D

Kind of comfusing when they use BMG for both gun and ammo.

I got my 1911. I got my cup of joe. Now I just need my character to be able to take that [censored] cigar out of that [censored] ashtray.

Edit: @ Mumatil. Yes. You are correct. Browning designed both the .50 BMG round and the M2 concurrently.
