Question on two Mage College-related quests

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:25 pm

Hi all, I've got a couple of Quests in my list which I keep going back to, and which I don't seem to be able to do, and I wondered if it was a bug, or whether maybe something's happened, like an NPC dying, which is blocking me.

Spoiler
Not really much of a spoiler, but I'll hide this anyway.

I can't remember the Quest names, but one of them involves retrieving a book, "Souls Black and White"?, and the other is similar. They both point to the Sightless Pit, not far South West of Winterhold, up in the snowy mountains. When I enter the Sightless Pit there's not much in there, just a door which it says is blocked from the other side. I've wandered around a bit, trying to find other entrances, but I can't find anything. Clairvoyance always leads me to this door, so I'm rather confused.

If I am missing something then I'll keep trying, but if this sounds like a bug to you then I'll just forget the Quests. Perhaps try them again with my new Character who I started last night.

Thanks.

I believe the sightless pit is slightly to the right of the dungeon you've enters. You actually leave said dungeon via that door.

Clairvoyance is probably leading you towards the hidden exit of the ruin.
It does that.
It also points you into walls, the floor and cliffsides with depressing regularity.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Sightless_Pit should be close by, its quite a nice ruin to explore.

Thanks guys. I do find the markers a little confusing sometimes, because that's the cave I'm told to enter. It's great to know I can proceed with these two Quests which have been in my list for goodness knows how long!!

Slightly off topic, but don't take a companion when you find the real entrance, they can get buggy and die in there.
