So so so so so much better than before. Especially the transition which has been bad since Oblivion and through both Fallouts.

Note, some people reported they did not see the improvement right after patching, not sure why. Play for a bit if you do not notice anything as even those folks said it showed up after a bit.

THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL! My jaw dropped the first time I saw it. And now you can actually navigate underwater. Argonian players can really feel like argonians. I really commend the staff for thinking to do this. Now PLEASE make underwater combat possible. Pretty please.

For PC users: is there a way to increase the range of visibility using the .ini or CK?

Yes. PC just got the grass shadow thing. But consoles get both the "LOD fixed for snow textures in distance" and the Water one.

The transition to underwater doesn't have that weird thing anymore where if your eyeballs are half way under you can see forever with no problems. So if you liked that then you are boned. Now when you go under the water seems to have a more "textured" look to it. I imagine it like swimming through really cold water that is about to turn to ice. When you are under water and you look up toward the surface I think they may have enhanced that for reflections; it seems shinier than I remember.

The water all around skyrim sure seems murky. It seems to me that some water should be murky and some water should not. But that's a minor quibble.

And no, they didn't add any underwater foliage. It's just the same foliage as before.

And PLEASE developers, PLEASE add some kind of underwater combat! I recently had to push an enemy onto land so I could do battle. (but this only happened because I push him off a cliff into the water in the first place)

I myself personally cannot, because I am on 360 bro, lol. I haven't seen any of the patch changes besides the Killcams. I was praying it would come today..

One thing is they've managed to fix the water surface area error, where if you're just underneath the surface without being completely underwater, you can see with perfect clarity. It's been that way since Morrowind, Oblivion, and in both Fallouts, I actually just assumed it was an engine thing. Now we have very nice underwater visuals and no weirdness.

I kind of miss that surface thing now, in a nostalgic way...

Actually used that to my advantage, ALOT. And in Skyrim it's the worst. To a point where you can go all the way down and still have perfectly clear visuals. I've looted a couple shipwrecks doing so. :D

This is something I've also been wondering about. Sounds promising! Anybody have any screens? Are the new visuals like the same as the underwater visuals displayed in the game jam video? They looked pretty :D

That's not how my underwater vision looks, at all. Underwater view is now much murkier and distorted, out past a few feet. Like real underwater viewing. But still a nice effect. Just doesn't look clear as glass as far as you can see.

I guess a mod or something is making the water that clear for me.

Nope that's how underwater looks for me. Before the patch however underwater looked normal.

Some pics from my wood elf hunter, first is in the ocean east of Solitude, second is a skinnydip in the lake near Riften... (but nothing risque)

Definitely murkier than before, but you can still see well enough to get around.

Pre 1.5, I hated having to look for stuff underwater, I would pass up lakes and pools I knew contained optional treasure, because I didn't want the hassle.

Post 1.5, I'm a diving fool.
