Questions about new SuperL3 ENB Mod

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 10:03 am

So I've gotten my game to run a fairly smooth 50 fps average everywhere in the game. I have shadows on medium, 8X AF, and 2X AA through the game itself. I have almost 50 mods, so I'd say this is pretty good. But when I installed http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=11318 (SuperL3 ENB) my game comes to a grind at around 5-10 fps. Is the mod that demanding or am I doing something wrong?

I'm running a GT 555m with 6GB RAM and an i7 processor.

Not sure if a thread on that one exists yet, but http://www.gamesas.com/forum/183-skyrim-mods/ is the place for this. I'd recommend searching that board for ENB first by using the search bar in the top right, however.

I searched there, nothing useful turned up. And this forum is as good as any for an issue like this.

it's the SSAO, if you disable the SSAO in the enb ini you will find your FPS go back up.

Also make sure AntiBSOD in the ini is set to true, that gives a great FPS boost for me.

Just a tip, enable your 8xAF through the nvidia control panel. The nvidia texture filtering is better then the games. Keep the AA enabled in game. And I second the killing of the SSAO.

Laptop gpu's cannot support ENB. You need to disable SSAO (Ambient Occlusion) by going into the enbseries.ini and set useambientocclusion=false.

I have an i5-2500k @ 4.3ghz and a GTX 580 @ 930mhz and I struggle to get a constant 60fps with SSAO and my gpu is 90-99% used all the time. Without ENB it is around 60% or less. Authors tend to use ENB 1.02 which is poorly optimized. 1.05 is now out and it has great fps gains but they don't use it for some reason and I don't know how to get it to work with authors configs or I would use 1.05 instead.

1.05 doesn't have SSAO though, but 102 configs work fine.

Oh yes, your right 1.05 doesn't have SSAO but people have said on the enb forum that they are having significant fps boosts with non-ssao ENB 1.02 vs non-ssao ENB 1.05. I've tried 1.06 with other authors configs and it makes no difference on performance.

No difference versus 1.02 or 1.05?

Well 1.05 doesn't have SSAO or DOF so I couldn't tell, I am only going off what other members of the ENB forum have said.

its not about demanding. unoptimized shaders do that. personaly I stay clear from that mod.

look for that other program, cant recall the name, but it was talked about BEFORE LAUNCH, it was a postprocessing aplication that dont interact directly with skyrim but with the gpu, something like that. it was verry impressive. the guy using it was a pro artist, and the screenshots were stagering.

anyway, skyrim look good enought for me, and when you throw in deadly dragons, war in skyrim, and warzone, any graphic mod would choke your computer. so leave some breathing space for content !!! like 100 feet giant mudcrap, a horde of 20 bandits, and other such nice encounters from those crazy mods. get some action.
