Quicksniping and Sniper Rushing

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 11:40 pm

Have fun, light rifles are not pinpoint accurate and ARE DEFINITELY NOT hip-fireable. The only way to ensure a hit is to aim for a little bit. Almost like Black Ops, but harder.

Good job, Splash Damage.

Let me rephrase the first part. They are pinpoint accurate only after a second-two seconds of aiming. They absolutely nailed the slow rate of fire. I was a bit annoyed that they'd allow quickscoping, as not a single Dev mentioned it. But it's taken care of.

Just to test this I've even tried quickscoping and sniper rushing. Was quite amusing. Trust me lights, you're better off with SMG's primaries (Which do very well anyways) unless you actually plan to not help your team.

Wait, so are you saying Light Rifles ARE effective or that they aren't?

Effective when used as a sniper.

Not effective when used as an unlimited range shotgun.

Thank god they actually made a sniper rifle work the way it is intended to.

Its pretty easy to hold a spot and kill quite a few people. That dragonuv is beastly. Ive been on the recieving end for an entire map (container city.) and it svcked. Two hits on an unbuffed medium. It does take more skill so I'm fine with it.

My question is, are the Drognav and Barnett actually useful, I know they are not OHKs and I am happy about that, but when using them as your primary as a LIght do you actually stand a chance in a medium or short range engagement?

Or do I need to play Engineer adn buff my Drognav so that I can actually have a firefight with the ARs and SMGs?

For the record, i melt face with the light rifles. Theyre a slow, "pick them off" weapon that i use from standoff distances, and to clear defenders off a choke that people are having a hard time approaching.

Oh wait... At first i thought you were qqing that the rifles were lousy... Which they arnt, they do what they do, extremely well.

Awesome, so NO quickscoping and NO no-scopes? I can dig that. And heck, the feedback on the weapons here has given me hope in the Drognav, I'll have to wait and see whether I use it over the Rokstedi.

it's possible to no-scope, i got a couple good ones last night but since it's a 2-3 shot kill a shotgun or SMG will outclass a long rifle almost all of the time i would think

Ah well, I guess if you can run it with no sights or scope then hipfire should be a possible.

So basuically they have the neccesary killing power, just you need to use them as a support weapon at medium or longer ranges.

Yup. They're mediocre at close range. Grab an SMG for CQC. Even the Drognav with it's nice rate of fire. Muzzle rise will carry the 2nd and third rounds way above their heads if you try to fire it fast. Once again, nice job Splash Damage.

agreed, they've done a very nice job of emphasizing medium/close range combat, but not making the long rifles complete paperweights.

obviously with the map layouts they will be of limited use, but when there's a good spot for a rifle they're quite useful.

And since you can change your weapons at anytime, you could as a light use them when they are needed, but swap out for an SMG when needed.

Are you sure about this? I just buff my damage and i can get OHK on a medium body, And what are you talking about the hip fireing is amazing in this game, there is not even a circle just a little dot you put on the guy and fire,

I found the sniper to be too powerful. I was getting 1HKO as a heavy.

I tend to prefer a Drognav with an ACOG (the other scope is way too powerful, considering that there's so much movement) and the semi auto is really a must for me. The barnett seems a tad slow, but I had great success with it as a medic as you want to stay a bit farther from the ruckus.

I've made good use of both rifles as snipers and the drog as a battle rifle, but the bots make better use of both as battle rifles.

They are fun to use. Especially when you thread the needle and nail someone who that thought they were in cover.
