racial tension

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:21 pm

i think there is not enough racial tension in skyrim.

i know the nords are racist but that is the nords.

i think there needs to be more tension between the Dunmer and the Khajiit and Argonians
since the the Dunmer enslaved both races for centries.
then after the oblivion crisis the argonians united and invaded morrowind and forced the Dunmer out into skyrim.
yet they live happily side by side im Windhelm and Riften with no underlying racial tones.

the same for the Khajiit and Argonians, according to UESP they are effectively mortal enemies. but why are there no remarke from either race to the character of the opposite race whether NPC or not.

any opinions would be nice

I wish Skyrim really pushed at the M rating other than a few severed heads.

I don't remember anything saying the khajiit hate the argonians or vice versa. Where'd you get that info?

If you want more Racial Tension, you have to go back to Morrowind.

Probably speculated due to the conflict between the argonian/khajiit border back in Oblivion's time.

Talk to some folk in Leyawiin. I can't remember who ceded land, but they weren't happy about it.

There's a little bit of dunmer/argonian tension. Stop by the shatter shield office some time during work hours and listen to the dunmer woman berate the argonian workers.

More racial tension means that the game will need to have more racism in it. It simply will not play well if one can choose to be a racist.

I wish that a non-Nord Dovahkiin elicited at least some response. At least a Dovahkiin who is also a mer.

Being a Dunmer, I really want to stick it to the Nords. There is poetic justice in it: Kyne's gift, traditionally given to men only, is usurped by a mer, and not just any mer, but a one of the same race that whooped the Tongues' arses back at the Red Mountain. There should be outrage at the fact that I can Shout, not the awestruck "He unleashes the thu'um!" comments.

I think that's quite an ignorant thing to say. That's like condemning all Germans as Nazis. A small populaces of people who are more on the extremist side of their political views, doesn't define an entire race of people. But yes there does need to be more tension between all races.

The only argonian activity during oblivion I know of is the argonians drove the daedra from black marsh

Like the time that dunmer lady asked if I hate dark elves. since I'm a khajiit I said yes and she got mad at me, I just wanted to be like" WTH lady, dark elves have enslaved my people for hundreds of years!!!" There really is no racism at all even though lore says there should be alot. it's not like beast races or elves are real so there should be no problem with this

I don't remember there being a direct dispute between them in Oblivion, only that Count Maro had annexed a portion of Elsweyr's territory and the argonians were concerned that he'd grab a chunk of Black Marsh next.

There's a good deal of tension, which is why (as one or two NPCs explain at points) they remain separated in different sections of the city (even if the Imperials take over).

I think that the Nords are in fact not racists. They like to attack anyone as well as let anyone join their fight and as such seem less racist than it appears. They then fight for independence, which means they do have to fight other parts of the world and consequently other races in those parts.

It does not make everyone who fights for independence automatically a racist. If this was so then one might as well invade other countries for being racist, because they did not join you and therefore have to be racists!
