Racial Voices

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:22 pm

Something I was thinking about today: which voice would you say best suits its race in skyrim? I personally think the way the khajiit and dark elves sound is perfect for their respective races. I also think that the imperial voices and argonians are not at all how they should sound. The oblivion ones for those were much better in my opinion (especially for argonians!). Thoughts?

I do not like how high elves sound. It sounds like royalty, which the Mer believes themselves to be the most superior race, but they don't really have a voice--it's more of a forced accent. They just remind me of snobby British people that are adopting an accent of affluence. I don't have a problem with any of the other races though.

Argonians are too regular human, Dark Elves are too Australian. Khajiit and Nord suit the best I think.

Khajiits voices best suit them I think. I rather like the dunmer voices in this game, although I would like to see some with the smokers voice. Altmer voices sound snobby and regal like I expected. Nords are what I expected. Argonians sound much like they do in oblivion. I wish orcs were a bit more brutish. Not much I can say about the other races. I liked their voices fine.

Really? They sounded the same to me. Maybe less ferocious in this one. Maybe I need to go play oblivion again.

Agreed I thought the Argonians sounded way better in Oblivion, but I hardly notice it in Skyrim. The Dunmer sound good imo, and the Bretons are kind of wut. Redguard aren't too bad, they need more of them to sound like Nazir. Imperials were good I thought, not as generic as they were in Oblivion, and Altmer sound perfect, they sound so all knowing and cocky for the most part. The Thalmor and consequentially high elves in general actually freaked me out for the longest time because my first encounter was with a Justiciar that ended with him giving me this creepy death stare and saying, "I don't like you. I think you're a heretic, and so you will die a heretic." and killed me.

Orcs were well done, but I have to say, the Khajiit were by far the best, second place being the Nords. They did a good job getting the feel across.

A few Dunmer sound good. Most sound like [censored] IMO. They really need that raspy voice back. Especially with their new looks.

Khajiit sound like cats, Nords and orcs are good. And dark elves. Nazir sounds cool (dark brotherhood redguard)

I can't remember what imperials sound like, that's bad.. If they still sound like romans then that's good.

That Argonian voice reminded me of Duke Nukem for some unknown reason. I do believe they're too human sounding, but we don't know what they sound like do we?

I've never really thought about this before. I don't really know either as I can't remember what most classes sound like haha.

I think Karliah has a unique voice. I also think Nazir sounds good too.
Are there any Altmer in Skyrim that aren't thinking they're all superior?

The oblivion argonian sounds like he has a sore throat.

I like how the Khajiit and Dunmer sound. I've heard suggestions that Altmer should have a japanese/asian accent to their voice, I think that might be cool.

Maybe like Katma Tui from a Justice League episode (the orange skinned woman in the beginning of the clip):

The Female Argonians still kind of have their touch from Oblivion o.o
however the Male Argonians do sound a bit too human.

All other voices I find fine :o
Altmer kind of do have the cliche evil person voice that they should have, at least Ancano did.

Yeah but it would have been more interesting if the reverse happened:

Spoiler
The archmage was evil and Ancano ends up helping saving everyone

I say this in a joking fashion btw. If they are little girly Mer then what are Nords and Imperials who never managed to conquer them? In fact the Dunmer caused the dismantlement of the Skyrim Empire and the Reman Empire to some degree. They fought off both Empires successfully at the height of their powers as well. They wall were te only nation to force the Imperials to leave them to their own devices because the imperials were afraid of the complications and danger in trying to take Morrowind by force. Silly little girly Mer lol.

yeah the females are about the same, which is fine in my opinion i like the consistancy. but i really loved the male voices for argonians in oblivion and am sorry they arent similar in skyrim. i do however think that skyrim improved on nord voices over oblivion as well as khajiit and dunmer. the altmer sound about the same to me and i dont have a real problem with them. same goes for orcs.

Khajits sound like Italians, especially J'Zhargo. I assumed Beth gave them that accent because they're largely traveling gypsy types.

And do most male orcs sound like Lieutenant Wharf from Star Trek or is it just me?
