Radius of darknessshadow of 10 feet wherever I go

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 5:53 pm

This is kind of hard to describe but bear with me. I'm uploading a video on youtube but it's taking 297 minutes!! If anyone wants the video maybe email would be faster. Anyway, lately I've been noticing that whever I walk, there's a radius of like 10 feet that is noticably darker than everything else. So when I walk forward, the radius of darkness aroud me continues to follow me. It's not a shadow lol, it's a full circle around me, but the AIR isn't dark, just things on the ground, or even bushes, are darker. Let's say it's a flat snow surface, the snow within 10 feet of me is darker than the rest, and it is always around me. Behind me, to the side, can't run away from it, etc. I don't remember it being a problem before, but maybe now that I'm noticing it, and at certain times of day, and in certain environments it is more distinct than others. I DID just change my ini to load distances further, but I really doubt that would change this. All i did was change the ugrid thing from 5-7. Also of note, I never have this problem indoors.

It's a small problem to be sure, but lately I can't NOT focus on it ><

I hope there's a fix or someone can tell me if they have it too or what it is.

Check my thread http://http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1312918-common-bug-fixes/ for a possible fix!

I think it has something to do with fog. I tried many ini tweaks but none was able to change it.

Hello,

I noticed that as well lately and like you i just tweaked the ini to add shadows and ugrid up to 7. So it may be related. I agree with you its hard not to notice it all the time once you've noticed it once.

Hmm never tweaked any shadows, haven't tweaked anything else in fact. Also, the thing I described basically disappears in brighter areas, or maybe it's random. Either way, it's gone now for the most part. Just comes up every now and then.

I'm also curious how to fix/negate it. If anyone knows, please help. Moonlit snow is so annoying with this "darkness radius"!

Yeah, I think eveyone has this issue. There are videos of it on youtube as well. I've tried about everything and nothing really fixes it. I'd love to hear a solution though.

These are two different issues! The thread you linked to is for lights and lit areas, suddenly changing in brightness (light pop up!) as you get closer.
I do also get the ring of darkness following me about at night. It's not there, or I don't see it, during the day.

Yeah, I've never found a real fix for the aura that follows you around.
