RAGE, I bought it, I finished it, I loved it.

Hi all,
I have just finished the game and I arrived here to give you my two cents about the game before leaving the forum.

RAGE is a great game, don't dwell too much on blurry texture, RAGE is a great and funny game, so play it and enjoy it.
While gaming, you will discover that the Carmack's genius is in the game and that the Tim Willits experience is there.

Technically I think that ID Tech 5 is one of the most amazing innovation in game area, at the moment, it doesn't bring wow graphics with RAGE (can you say the same with DooM 4?)
but it clearly makes the difference when compared with other tech available.
I felt megatexture all around, you will feel the megatexture in every area. The disastered area is simply amazing, every pixel on the display is different,
its clear that artists worked in a powerful environment. Hey do you have doubt with Carmack?

Aristically RAGE is amazing. I think that RAGE is one of the most beatiful game released since years, Tim made a great job.
I really liked the ID rpg style. The game is something new, is an rpg with car battles and the best incarnation of the FPS.
I finished the game with 20 hours, I explored every area and talked with every one. I played at medium difficulty and differently from many reviewers I founded the game quite easy
due to the heavy weapons and the abundance of bullets. A relaxed experience for me after the dinner, great.
Game is awesome, story is quite interesting but the ending is bad. A most interesting final would have been better.

Sounds? Not bad, good music with great weapons effect. I think that the this game has the best shotgun sound heard in a videgame, my sennheiser was exploding when shooting with shotgun. I felt the power of the shot :)

All in all I'm not able to give you a vote, I'm not a game reviewer, market as so large than it is difficult to compare RAGE with another game.
If you loved ID Software, this game is a must have, if you don't loved ID Software (the only one reason is because you are too yound or because you started playing only now) this game is a good way to start loving ID software.

Bye bye and see you on DooM 4, can't wait for it.

Thoroughly enjoyed the game from start to finish. Apart from some slow texture loading i had no issues technically and overall the graphics/design and sound were great. Plenty of fun weapons and a good variety of enemy. I wish it was a bit longer and the ending wasn't great. I also found it steady on Normal difficulty and i'm not complaining as it made it a nice enjoyable game to play. Games don't need to be difficult to complete just fun to play, which this is. Bring on RAGE 2!!

Agreed. I enjoyed it a lot.

A game I could finish with minimum frustration and the desire to see some more future DLC.

I agree, a great game!

I have gone through it several times and each time I have become more and more impressed by the depth of the game. The action is great, lands scape is awesome, and the secrets are really fun to look for. There are a few things I don't like about the game, which I have already stated, so I wont repeat them, but the good far out ways the the bad! :tops:

Just want to add that IMO, the AI and animations are the best I have ever seen.

I've sunk 15 hours in and just got to subway town.

I'm playing on PC and the game looks amazing. Intensely good. Ive seem graphically intensive games have blurry textures, Arkham Asylum had it and it wasn't critized like Rage.

I love the game so far. The level design is immersive and looks like a painting. I really get hooked on the sound, I usually hate video game music, especially the weapons - they're top notch.

I'm playing on nightmare. The game has some intense moments. I've died a few times by charging in. I adore OP guns and ammo, this game was obviously built to be fun.

Character design and animations are the best I've ever seen.

Here's all my money give me Rage 2.

Beat it on PS3 on easy. I liked it. Might even go back and play on a higher difficulty in the near future. Texture pop up was way bad with stock PS3 drive. After I upgraded my HDD, the experience was great. I took my time beating the game, exploring here and there. My kids enjoyed watching as well, as well as helping with some of the mini games.

Rage is really a amazing Game. I enjoy the shooting part of the Game every time i face the enemies.

Screen is very detail and amazing. But the texture pop up is bad. And objects in closed looking is bad.

Weapons are powerful, beautiful and practical. When I play other FPS games, I may only use some of them. But Rage provides me a lot of fun and favor experience with different weapons. I like the crossbow very much, especially I was playing The Well campaign. :gun:

Dead City really makes me scare. :swear: But I really enjoy it.

I hope RAGE 2 will still provide me the same feeling. But may you please not to make the game intense and horrible

Good Luck and Well Done. Thanks to id Software and Bethesda!! :mohawk:

I love the artwork of Rage - the apocalyptic setting as a whole; withering outdoor architectures, nasty indoors encroached by weeds and weathering, vast landscapes, etc. were all done so well and the level of detail is as good as it gets for my eyes anyway. Some close up blurring never bothered me. Sound FX and music excellent . . . and well placed and congruent with action dynamics. Totally satisfying FPS gunplay and the weapons are fun as it gets. . . I wondered early in the game but now I see why it wasn't necessary to be able to pick up dropped weapons . . . it just wasn't necessary. Mutant Bash TV rules! I love the vehicle battles in the wastelands, and the frenzy to get the feltrite showering down before the bandits got it ( would have liked more of that) . . . . but I wish they'd have left out the competitive races as they were clumsy to control, I hated most of the courses, and found them frustrating and distractive from the greatness of the game. . . and that's my only gripe with an otherwise very cool game. . . Hey id . . . nice! Lookin forward to the dlc and the future for Rage!

Three obvious flaws:

Game is one of the easiest in my collection
Last level was uninspired
Some of the textures are blurry

Bugs? I solved the ones plaguing my system (see my signature).

Aside from the above I'm having a great time with this game (2nd runthrough on Hard). Bring on the DLC!

yesterday i finished the game. some people said it's 10h to finish it... i finished it with 19h in-game playing and more than 30hours total time playing on steam (i like to play for some hours of mutant bash tv :P, and i took my time for exploring the world and watch details :P. but to finish it with 19h playing time i started the game with hard setting and i didn't use too much the "armor piercing bullets or exploding bullet", thoses one were a good idea but the game is too easy with thoses :s...

I'm totaly agree with most of everyone said about rage :). But i hope ID will not let the community die, even if we all know rage is a solo game. This game have something to have a nice multiplayer (cars, post apocalyptic world....). personnaly if a "mutant bash tv online" can be realsed it would be realy nice or something like in gears of war (wave of mosnter coming ^^), and some co-op game too :)

How do you get back to the wastelands to do some of the side missions? if you've already beat the game. Because i have it at a save point and when I load the game it just keeps taking back to that same spot in capital prime everytime. Can i get back to the wastelands or will it just keep taking me back to my save point?

it was a good game, but because of the ending, I will never play it again unless some good DLC comes out.. I find that putting 20+ hours into a campaign and having a crap ending leaves me disappointed enough to not want to play it anytime soon.

If they decide to launch a DLC, I hope they:

1. Make the AI more aggressive (their movements are topnotch but they don't fire as often as I would have liked)
2. Make the game generally more difficult (regenerative health + defrib + health-related recipes = near invincibility)
3. Make the player care/flesh out the story (who are the authority? why should i join the war?)

After I finished, it said I played for 42 hours. Where's this short game people are complaining about?

I concur... needs DLC PDQ, OK?

The whole "Who is the authority, why should i join the war?" thing is pretty straight forward.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SPOILERS AHEAD
/\/\/\/\/\//\/\/\/\//\/\/\/\/\

For reals, yo..... Spoilers

You emerge from cryo in a completely different time. everyone that is on your team is dead. You have no one, no supplies, no food.
What choice to do you really have of survival, other than initially taking Dan's help, and since when is anything on this planet free?
So you help Dan and his settlement.. But it is explained that the Authority is looking for ARK survivors.
Theres your first bit of motivation right there. These people are actively looking for people with nanotrites in their bloodstream.
So, you move to a bigger city, where it will be a bit easier to not only blend in, but you also leave Dan's so you don't cause problems for the small, detached settlement. Again, since nothing is free, and the only people that are allowed into Wellsprings are those who have something to offer (listen to the mayors 1MC addresses, they are not only comical, but offer info on the setting you find yourself in) you must pay your way, somehow. They know you have nanotrites, and therefore, you are imbued with greater physical and survival abilites and are probably more educated, being pre-Apophis schooled and furthermore even recommended for the ARK program; than most in the wastes- an ideal candidate to EARN your stay in Wellsprings. Then it is explained to you by Dr. Kvasir, while running that piece of feltrite to him for examination that you will need to battle against the authority, again because they are hunting people with nanotrites and you'll need an upgrade to be able to stand up to them. You don;t really have mouch choice, because it's not as if they are going to relent. Getting that upgrade brings the Authority crashing down, because you battle mutants which you later find out are pets of the Authority. The point is, you're not safe in Wellspring anymore with them crawling all over. So the resistance makes themselves known to you, as your goals are in line and because some of them are ARK survivors. It is not as if you can just shrug it off and continue living as a commoner- you are actively being hunted, and it is your purpose for even being the the ARK to meet up with other ARK survivors to rebuild. This is continued motivatuion to battle the Authority. You further find out that they are harvesting ARK survivors to make mutants. Furthermore, the Authority are themselves ARK survivors, who put the odds in their favor, re-emerging to reclaim society before the ARKS purported plan can be carried out. The future of mankind hinges on stopping the Aurthority and bringing the remaining ARK survivors intot he mix, so they can do what they were purposed for, rebuilding society.

I don't even expect a huge story in ID games.
But for those who have questioned why you would be going down the path you are, you are simply not paying enough eattention, it is spelled out pretty clearly.

Now, would more background be nice? Would it be cool to see how the Authority came to power and what would have when down when they re-emerged as well as what will happen as other ARK survivors emerge? sure..
But the protagonists motivations are pretty cut and dry.

resistance propaganda IMO.

they make it like the authority is out to 'take advantage' of ark survivors to use them for no good, or worse eliminate them. BUT isn't that what the resistance is 'using' us for? to take out the authority?

resistance propaganda IMO.

they make it like the authority is out to 'take advantage' of ark survivors to use them for no good, or worse eliminate them. BUT isn't that what the resistance is 'using' us for? to take out the authority?

And your evidence that they arent trying to use ark survivors for no good is.......?
Considering the propaganda the Authroity it self uses when they occupy Wellsprings, its not hard to draw the conclustion that they are a totalitarian faction (not to mention the devs characterizing them as such, prior to game launch), which isn't really looking to help anyone other than themselves. Further evidence would be not just the resistance, but all you encounter saying that the Authority will pay good money to sell out ARK survivors. Then there's the shutting businesses down in Wellprings..

Aside from that, the Aruthority is actually enginering mutants as seen first hand in Captial Prime, you know- which would be completely un-neccessary for a benevolent faction to do.
It doesnt take much to put together that the mutants are- up until discovering "super" mutants (heh) which are more mikely to be utilized as actual sodiers - just a diversion to keep normal people occupied, so they can't trully rebuild society and fourish.

Then theres also the fact that all of the ARKs have not re-emerged, yet, there is a faction that has a seemingly indispesnible amount of pre-apoc tech and weaponry, this applied with pretty much every NPC corroborating the "evil faction" notion seems to be an occams razor scenario..

I can dig if you want to play as the bad guy, but lets be clear that they are the bad guy.

This game had no storyline though? hah

I wonder if having SolidStateDrive instead of normal HDD would make a difference with texture loading?
