RAGE (PC) needs the Crysis 2 treatment!

In my opinion rage is a bigger flop then crysis 2 was on release for PC and thats saying alot because crysis 2 had a horrible release but crytek was able to redeem themselves with their overdue but spectacular patch.

Rage has some of the worst textures i've seen and the lackluster video options are quite disappointing so I hope id looks at what crytek did to save their game and puts some effort into making RAGE the game it should be for the PC. I'm not asking for DX 11 support DX 10 is fine but it would be nice to see a patch with high-res textuers and advanced video options!

Why does everything look like it's made of mashed potatoes? I'm guessing this is an issue with the game not loading the hi-res textures when it should be. There's no f'n way that last one with the cans on the shelf is working as intended. No way.

I think it's more a matter of the dynamic graphics system they use instead of bad textures in general. To me, a lot of the textures in the game look pretty sharp but at times the game does scale some textures down dynamically to improve performance. Normally you have direct control over this to a degree but since this game does it all for you I think that's causing a lot of the issues. Even the best dynamic system isn't going to be able to account for the wide range of capabilities of today's PC's. Personally I don't see a lot of low res' textures anymore, details in the distance aren't drawn as far out as I'd like, I mean it's fine for gameplay but I went to take a screen shot of a great view yesterday but didn't b/c in the distance it was plain to see the structures textures weren't fully rendered, kind of killed the shot. I haven't played Crysis 2 I have seen it though and while I'm not saying Rage is that level of detailed after it's dx11 update, it is still nice looking and not every game is meant to be Crysis-like in that regard.

. . . that's what I just said. The nifty "dynamic graphics system" is bugged and always drawing low-res textures on high-end machines. Click the links above. Those were taken on a 990X 12GB 570GTX system.
