Rage... (spoiler warning to those who haven't played yet)

A little background on my gaming history...

My first computer was purchased for one reason and one reason only...just to install the newly released shareware (back in 1994/5? so long ago) to find out what all the hype was over Doom. From that day on I was hooked on anything id software related (be it in house games or licensed game studio games using the idtech game engines). I have played anything and everything that uses an idtech engine. I have played everything that has been released on the PC, console ports, and even the cellphone games. Over the years though I have since moved to gaming solely on the XBOX, primarily for the ease of access to games instead of having to worry about having the latest and greatest hardware to run the latest game. During my PC gaming time though I was involved in the open community of level designers using the level design tools for Doom/Doom2, Quake 1-3, and even did some minor work during the life cycle of Doom 3. Why have I stuck by id software and its game engines over the years...because I love the games, the graphics, and the end user editing that they allow and support.

Rage...

I have to admit though that Rage was the first game I hesitated on running out to purchase, based on friends reactions to the short campaign. But I have since purchased the game and loved it from beginning to end and I am currently still playing it trying to finish all of the achievements for the 360 and enjoying the MP component. I think the game was way underrated by the gaming community, and the fact that it was a new IP released at a time that two major franchises (GOW3 and Elder Scrolls) were releasing their latest games did not help. Kind of hard to woo new and old players to a new IP when 2 majorly successful franchises have titles coming out around the same time. I think if Rage had been released 6 months before or after those two games it would have had more of a major impact on the 360 community. Since picking up the game I have convinced 2 friends to run out and get it as well.

Even though people try to knock the game for whatever lame reason it is one hell of a cool concept, has gorgeous graphics, and the single player and multiplayer components are a lot of fun. Having played through the game almost 3 full times now I am chomping at the bit for some DLC like the rest of the community. And having spent hours exploring everywhere in the game there is so much potential for DLC content its not even funny. (New job board jobs to new unlocked areas, adding areas to previously closed doors scattered around the wastelands, new mini-games, new collectables, adding a scope to the crossbow, helping JK Stiles with Mutant Bash TV 2.0 where you have to test out his new show before it gets aired, finding out what happened to Dan Hagar...and so on...so many possibilities.) I really hope some new content is released, and I even read an article the other day from an interview with Carmack about his interest in doing a Rage 2, which I really hope becomes a reality. Especially, since Rage was only the beginning of the fight against the Authority.

So thank you id software...keep up the good work. Looking forward to whatever comes next.

Hey, glad to hear you went out and checked for yourself without being properly hampered by others opinions. I personally thought the game was pretty cool myself, had it's flaws, but msot of those were fixed through the patch after release.
As for the DLC component, there is a hell of a lot that can be done, you didn't even get to mentioning races, car parts, ammunition mods, new settlements, etc. And that is just off the top of my head, so really, there is no reason this couldn't be a huge expansion on the game.

And Rage 2 would have my money
