I'm astonished that we were given an exact day, Bethesda usually starts with a season and won't even give a specific month until we're nearing that. Is there something significant about September 13 in particular?

My guess is that it's part of their product release stratedgy. Pretty confident Rage will be complete by that date. They may well be working on the DLC at that point.

I'm not surprised that they have an exact date for their target I'm just surprised they didn't leave themselves a little wiggle room by announcing it as having a "September 2011" release date.

The thing what bothers me is the are gogin to release Rage for the Iphone and Ipad alot sooner then it is released for consoles. Why dont they work on the console versions instead of putting effort into creating it for a phone app this is truly dissapointing especially considering people are going to be posting spoilers all over when all the true gamers waitinf for the PC,PS3 or 360 version are going to see and ruin it

As far as I know it is Tim Willits' 40th birthday. (He's the lead designer on Rage)

i dont think ive ever been more excited for a game i cant wait hopefully id software makes it as good as ive seen it so far

At least you know how long you have to wait. The time will fly by, and there's plenty of other great games coming out between now and then to keep you busy.

I mean as long as it is good and there will a alot games for me play before this comes out Fallout New Vegas,Black Ops, Metal of Honor, And Fable 3

and Between Black Ops Online and New Vegas Yeah I am good for a year

Okay, so....maybe I have not been as informed as I could have been and maybe I am late to the party, but, I gotta say--Rage being released in September of 2011 is the dumbest [censored] thing I have heard yet. I am extremely furious over the fact that no good shooters have come out this year and they are so spread out over 2011--the industry in general on release dates is not making sense to me.

Here is my issue. i am not a Halo fan, I am sick of Modern Warfare, I am sick of Gears of War--(Gears 2 svcked balls)--

The only good sci-fi shooter sticking to their guns is Dead Space 2--Jan 25th-- which looks amazing. At least team Visceral has balls.

Me and my friends are basically sitting in chat parties playing a bunch of old single player games that aren't really that great just biding our time until the next great innovative competitive multiplayer shooter comes out--and we hate Halo and COD--

Brink was supposed to be out this year--I believe Crysis 2 was supposed to be out in December, Rage was listed as Jan 2011 by Gamestop up until recently and all of them have got these new release dates that put them months away from release.

Rage has been in development for what...7 years???? How much more "tweaking" has to be done? I could understand if the game is not done--and if it is not--then why show it off at E-3 2010????? Id and Bethesda have completely pissed me off with this September [censored] release date. You must have no idea as to how bored hardcoe MP gamers are right now. And then what is funny....Killzone 3, Gears 3 and Crysis 2 are all set to come out around the same time--Three games I would have liked to have been spread out so I can take time and enjoy them. It just seems like the industry is confused on when to release games-period. They are scared of Halo and Black Ops--so they delay the release of their game, but then they aren't scared of Gears or Crysis????

No good Nov. or Dec. releases????? Black Ops--hey, you play one COD game you've played them all--boring monotonous same old same old [censored]--I was really looking forward to Rage early 2011--September--[snip]

I guess if the developers say the game is done, it's not done. If they need time, give them time -- if they they need another year to make it perfect, so be it. I bet there's other games out there while you're waiting

So, that is great, you guys are okay that they need 8 years to make the game....You guys are fine with them showing it off at E-3 and then releasing it in Sept 2011??? Whatever--I'd like to know what games you would recommend to get me by until then, consider that I am a hardcoe multiplayer gamer who hates Halo and COD/MW--good luck--bet you won't come up with suggestions.

It's quite common for a game to be shown at E3 multiple years before it's released, and not just games with lengthy developement times.

As I've mentioned earlier in this thread I'm surprised they were willing to set an exact date over a year in advance rather than announcing something more general, like "Fall 2011" however if id feels that they need another year I don't see a reason to argue with them - yes delays are frustrating but so are games that don't feel finished.
