DLC to expand a little on the story and then Rage 2. I can't wait. Honestly this year between all the new games I got CODBO, Dead Island, Fallout NV, Duke Nukem Forever, Bullet Storm, Killzone 3, Portal 2, Catherine, Battlefield 3, and Rage.
Rage is the only game I have bothered to play through twice. Rage is just (in my opinion) the most fun game this year. I share the anticipation with the OP. I did have some more games on my "to get list" before the year was out. MW3, Batmam AC, and House of the Dead Overkill, But seeing as this is the only game that has satisfied my game lust this year I am holding out for Rage DLC and Rage 2 to avoid any more disappointment.
Here's hoping for DLC that adds more Wastland legends and more Road Rage Maps, maybe Road Rage racing not just combat.
And here's Hoping for Rage 2 that will continue the story so that I can stop wondering
Spoiler
what the Authority intends to do about all the new arks emerging and then stop them

Rage 2 would be really cool, but I honestly can't wait for DooM4! ;)
DooM4 should be pretty freak'n awesome on this engine.

DLC to expand a little on the story and then Rage 2.

honestly, if the dlc isn't mind blowing there wont be a rage2.

i say this based on dlc content(maybe even multiple dlc's) will save this game in order to produce a sequel. hopefully another poster is right and RAGE is a per-quel to multiple games to come.....

but as the community of the forums is atm, there wont be a RAGE2 :(

rage was awesome but i want more....

Yeah id like atleast 4 new SP dlc's before they start on Rage 2, i would also like more co-op missions and more Mp content but SP is more important.

As far as forum members effecting weather the devs will make more games, i 100% doubt it.

Just look at GSC Game world who make the Stalker games, They have made 3 games, each severely flawed and with a couple of game breaking bugs, glitches, graphical issues and i know for a fact they received thousands of complaints and hate mail. I know as i used to be a member of their forum back in the days, the stalker games also got bad reveiws and were pretty much laughed at buy the rest of the industry and yet they are still going, still making games and apparently, they are even making a stalker for the consoles and i gotta add, they have a HUGE fan base and modding community despite the bugs. Its the fans they make these games for no matter how many complaints they get.

It's gotta be an impressive DLC then we can think about Rage2.
Otherwise I would wait for Doom 4.

Where did you here this. did a quick google and found no release date for Doom 4.
But I did find that the main developing team from Rage switched to Doom 4 after Rage release date. I hope that they still have some people working on Rage DLC though I don't like the idea of waiting until after Doom 4 to see more Rage. I can understand waiting for Rage 2 but some more SP story, Wastland Legends and Road Rage maps would be appreciated sooner rather than later. seeing as how the world will end on 12.21.12 I would like to play as much of the games I enjoy as possible before we all blow up.

I wouldn't be surprised that they pulled as much resources as possible to finish DLC for RAGE before tackling doom 4. There might have been things they are going to have to rethink for doom 4 as well with what they learned with rage.

TBH, I can wait for Rage 2 until 2013. Just give me 2-3 dlcs from here to the summer along with having BF3 (plus just ordered FO3-GOTY) AND along with all the other games out or coming out in next few months. Then, after all of that, the sequel all of us have been waiting for...BORDERLANDS 2!!!!!!!!! Yeah, Rage 2 can wait a minute, I will accept with open arms, but just not yet...

Supposedly id produced an enormous amount of content during the production of RAGE, around 6x the amount in the vanilla release. If the primary development team went on to DOOM 4 right after RAGE released, then id already has all its forthcoming DLC prototyped if not finished but is waiting to feel out the most profitable sequence in which to release all that extra content.

The ending of Rage said "To Be Continued" in a big way to me. I would be very disappointed if no DLC followed.

Well Todd Hollenshead replied to my email and someone else on this forum that there will be no DLC for Rage due to poor sales.
i am surprised they didn't announce it publicly.

Yeah, but those emails are to be trsuted as much as the banner at the top of random webpages that informs you of being the 1,000,000 visitor and to click on the banner to recieve your prize. In that case you get some bad computer thing going on, and in this email case you speak of, it's just some guy being a [censored]. No need to worry about that, they will anounce it if it's the case. And thye haven't, so that's a good sign

yer. definitely a major dlc needed. One like in Fallout 3 that carries on from the main quest. I got to the end of the game and now....... I can't go back unless I start again

From Carmack's Twitter page...

we are still waiting for AMD to stabilize their release drivers so we can test our patch against them.

new levels for in-app purchase (2 for $0.99) just got submitted for Rage iOS, Doom 2 complete is the next mobile project.

So I guess there is still hope when AMD fix their driver.

The Stalker games are amazing. There is more content in the the first three maps of SOC than in all of Rage. it's the fantastic possibilities inherent in the game that keep it's fan base playing it. I have played all three games many times. I have played many of the mods, some complete game mods that change it a lot. The potential of Stalker was always apparent even if SOC and CS were bugfests when they came out. It's wide open for you to do as you please.

Rage is an id tech demo and kinda boring. With the mod tools, if we ever get them, it will be very difficult to make big changes. Carmack has said there is no support and the tools are not user friendly. Stalker is wide open to modding and it saved the games. My favorite video games still.

Hopefully it'll be a expansion that you can buy on disk. I hate the way some games dev's are trying to force us to download the add-ons. I what to actually have something I pay for that I can still use at anytime in the far future. I paid for it. I want physically see it.

I used to think that way a couple of years ago - now I just find it annoying when the game case takes up space in my room.

I just hope they make it totally linear with no driving or story telling. The origonal sort of kills the replay value with all the running back and forth just to shut up the stuipid characters so I can play a mission. Didn't carmact once say stories in a game are like stories in a pormo. If they must tell a story (which I have no faith in their abilities to do, and no basis to believe they can) then they should take a big page out of half life's book and have the story unfold as you play. I guess I'm trying to say id like an Id game. Or like in the videos on the Rage website maybe a mission could be transitions into with a small, fade in > say a few words to set up the premis > fade out and play the mission type thing.

I'd also like to be doing what I'm doing for some other reason than some dike told me (used me) to do it. I don't want to play someones lackie, I want to be the bad ass who came along and got done what he wanted to get done. The driving was good, but replacing that with a few more levels would have made rage a better game imo. And forget DLC, put that effort into making the game more epic. I don't mind DLC but when it feels like it's something that ought to part of the origonal. I don't want to purchace the ending seperatley either.
