I am very frustrated with the rally races in Rage. Dumbly enough, they do not reward you for good driving. Rally racing should REWARD you for reaching rally points the FASTEST. What ends up happening to me almost everytime is that the cars in LAST place end up getting the rally points since they are in last place and you are typically in first, the rally points begin to overlap. I have never seen a dumber race design. So that even though you are in the lead as the rally points appear sequentially, the last car might be already THREE rally points in front of you. And you have to TURN AROUND to reach the rally points??? How does this make sense?? Awful design. I would like to get the achievement for winning all the races, but I think I'm gonna have to skip the rallies.

And just as a little side note, the D-pad item use during races doesn't work for me either. It's just too hard to be switching with your right thumb while trying to drive at the same time.

I've never had any trouble with any of the campaign races...nor online. The design is fine honestly. And in those races you get points for not only getting the chains...but destroying enemy vehicles as well. Just because its a rally race doesnt mean you should phase out the combat.
