Random Enemies Ambush Immediately After Fast-Travel

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 1:42 pm

Hi,

So I recently deleted my level 32 High Elf mage save-games due to a very, very annoying glitch
that resulted in 1-15 random enemies spawning right in my face after I've fast-traveled. It didn't
matter whether I fast-traveled to a city, a bandit camp, a dungeon or village, and it didn't happen
every time, but it happened enough for me to get extremely annoyed by it. So I started up another
High Elf mage, and at level 20 I bumped in to the damn glitch again. A lowly bandit spawned right
where I had fast-traveled.

This is extremely annoying, and I've done some looking around after an answer to this glitch, but it
seems that there are only a few others who have taken the time to complain about it. I do use mods,
but this glitch doesn't occur in any of my other saves, and as the theory goes, it has something to
do with the reanimation spells. I use the latest official patch.

Bethesda... Please fix this.

I have never seen this happen, not in walled cities. Are you talking walled cities? Otherwise, I always go to sneak position before I fast travel, unless between walled cities or the college. Did you cheat out of a fight somewhere? Are you sure you didn't PO some faction? Are you sure they were bandits, not guards? If your bounty is >999 a bounty hunter may track you down.

BTW, I played several games of Rome Total War and on the full-length setting. Was a decent game. I really hated the one(s) where I took the desert areas though, the blue faction, turned sour.

I'm quite positive this isn't supposed to happen. My mage isn't a thief or assassin, and have done nothing to aggro the guards or anyone else. It is always enemies like draugr, trolls, bandits or worse. And yes, we're also talking inside walled cities like Whiterun or Markarth.

Hi,

I too get this bug after fast travel - not all the time but usually at least once during a play session.

I do not, nor have I ever, used the "Wars in Skyrim" mod, so we can rule that out.

One thing I have observed however is the makeup of the enemies that attack. They are always a mixed group and will fight amongst themselves as much as they'll attack me. They are also always made up of foes I've recently killed prior to the fast travel. Simply put, I killed some wolves, entered a cave, killed some vampires and exited the cave. I fast travel and get ambushed by wolves and vampires. Next I kill a bear, enter a cave, take out some bandits and drauger, exit & fast travel and I get ambushed by a bear, some bandits and drauger.

Basically, every now and again on fast travel, I'm attacked by a resurrected version of the last few (10-15) foes I killed. They are generally a lower level version of said foes, i.e. far easier to kill, plus they are immune to ressurection once killed the 2nd time around. They do not disolve into an ash pile, just a normal corpse, and they can be looted as normal.

Note: I do often resurrect fallen enemies during a dungeon crawl & I have a mod that, once I reach mastery, I can resurrect many at one time. I suspect this is where this bug originates, as enemies I've killed, resurrected, then they've subsequently died and turned to ash somehow "follow" me next fast travel - but alive and hostile once more. Do you play the same way Blacklight?

I always save prior to fast travel now as one time I managed to loose a veritable hoard into Whiterun which was funny but loads of NPCs got killed so I reloaded.

This issue is getting worse as I progress in the game, but I can work around it.

This can also happen right after patching the game. Basically, all the respawn timers get reset at once. It should settle out after a few in-game days. Until then, don't fast travel so much.

Hi,

Well, it's been an age since I applied the 1.5.26 patch and this still happens very often. Just happened twice in my current gameplay session.

First time only three foes appeared - a Horse (!) a giant Frostbite Spider and a Bear. I'd encountered the spider and bear a few minutes earlier, the spider inside a cave, the bear outside. I'd also encountered a horse that I accidentally annoyed with a shout while fighting a Thief, but did not actually kill it. It was however the same horse - well, the identical horse variant at least.

Shortly after (my next fast travel in fact) I encountered a large number of Bandits - I'd very recently cleared out a fort occupied by bandits.

I'm less certain now that this is related to me resurreting foes,, due to the horse appearing - which I didn't kill - and the group of bandits as I'd not resurrected any of them in the prior encounter.

Something definitely odd here - doesn't bother me too much as I rarely fast travel.

I can only assume this is a side effect of some mod - just need to pin down which one.

Why are you quoting yourself when I've already said that I do not, nor ever have, used the "Wars In Skyrim" Mod, yet I get the exact same issue as the OP fairly regularly on fast travel. That on it's own shows that Wars In Skyrim cannot be the cause surely?

Possibly there are a number of mods that change similar things that could cause this. I started a new game when 1.5.26 came out and my mod list has remained fairly static, though I do apply updates to any mods I use when they become available.

For the record, here's a list of the mods I have applied currently:

SKSE of course
Realisic Lighting with Customisation
WATER - Improved Water
Better Dynamic Snow
HD Furniture and Barrels
Improved Rock and Mountain Textures
Lush Grass / Lush Trees
Real Smoke and Embers
Skyrim HD
Ultimate Parallex Ice Mipmapped
Vurts Skyrim Flora Overhaul
Balanced Magic
Conjuration Pack
Dynamic Merchants (Recently installed)
Skyrim Community Uncapper
SkyTEST
SkyUI
Tradeable Companion Gear
Expanded Winterhold Ruins

I also use Bethesda's texture pack.

So, a fairly moddest list compared to many. All mods are the latest versions as uploaded on the Nexus.

I cannot recall exactly when I started to see this bug, I rarely use fast travel so possibly it was there from the start but I did not notice.

I don't see anything on that list that would affect spawn rates... though you never know. So you have not opted in to the beta patch? Like I posted above, you see this sort of thing after a patch sometimes. Otherwise, I got nuttin. Sorry man. The only real solution that I see is to limit fast travel as much as possible.
